Greetings,
I just bought a 2009 used BMW X6. It is in great condition despite some minor cosmetic defect. All is good. Sent for a professional workshop for some engine services and now it's in great condition.

Just one question:
Should I send my X6 back to BMW for future services or should I just send it back to the professional workshop outside like my first workshop service?

Nice car you got there. Does BMW accept used car for service? I think if you found a reliable and trustworthy mechanic for your car, why do you have to worry such issue?

The decision on where to service is totally up to u. Apart fm the authorised SC, there are lots of competent mechanics/workshops/specialist out there. Point to consider is technical knowledge, convenience for u, and most importantly, the economic part of it. Either way, suggest u to build a relationship with the SC/workshop/mech.

Is ur car a locally sold unit i.e. fm Auto Bavaria or any of the authorised dealers? if it is, suggest u to go back to the specific authorised dealer to update the ownership records. This will enable u to receive periodic updates, recall notes (if any) or promo fm these authorised dealers or BMW Malaysia. Whether u decide to service ur car there or otherwise, is a different matter.

If its a recond unit, u may register it with any authorised SC, with a token fee of course, so u may enjoy the above. Or straight go to any specialist of ur choice.

I see. Thanks bros! I was just selling opinion on this issue as I've got friends who went to a "reliable" mechanic but ended up using cheap parts on his BMW 5 series. My friend was furious. That's why I'm concerned as well. Thank you both for your opinion, I appreciate it a lot!

But as far as I know BMW have lots of aftermarket OEM parts which is as good so don not be confuse with cheap parts just because of the price difference. As far as I know the price will defers a lot by putting up BMW branding on the parts. For example for your BMW oil filter, BMW genuine is MAHLE, but there are HENGST, MANN or BOSCH, they are as good. Unless they use parts which is unheard of, you are just fine. German cars do not make their own parts, they find manufacturer to make for them and they end up selecting the best offer. You will be surprise the air con in GERMAN cars are made by DENSO.. When you know your things well, people would think twice before they sell things to you. LOL

I've got one more question. Which brands of tire is more suitable for X6?

Most important question is what is your rim size and who does your wheel alignment. Brands are just optional. But most important is your wheel alignment in order to gain stability.

Oh boy! I couldn't find any panic button in my X6 car remote. There isn't any by default? Geez... such an expensive ride but doesn't comes with a panic button as standard issue?

Well, perhaps you could look up on the internet, see if you could find any coding tutorial to make it work. Some features can be enabled via coding.

Sometimes, the independent BMW specialist workshops are more resourceful. They are usually very experienced and seasoned mechanics. The ones in the dealers usually follow SOP and had to refer to BMW Malaysia on situations they cannot resolve.

Does not matter who service your car. As long they know how to give right treatment to your car, they are good.
