Gutentag, ich bin ein Berliner! Actually I'm not, but I'm new! I'm a Dutch working in KL. Used to work for the Dutch version of the Japanese GT championship. Today I stumbled upon an old movie which I want to share with you. The movie shows a BMW STW E36 prepared by BMW Motorsport. The car has to start from the back of the grid in the Dutch Supercar Challenge due to problems in quali. See the car (with only 280 horses) overtake everything! Even the 600bhp Porsches GT2 and Marcos LM600's. Corner entry speed is everything on a racetrack. But most of all; listen to the engine (why I put it here). It is one of the few BMWs that actually really breathes trough its nostrils. The sound you hear is 100% intake 'music' that flows trough a highly sophisticated airbox. The engine has roughly the lifetime of 2000 kilometers and that is the long range engine, it comes in a ‘sprint’ variant too! This car is very special, as were all cars prepared for the STW championship. The current WTCC is somewhat boring compared to those cars! Check the video: BMW STW E36 on Assen driven by Rolf van OsOh, btw for the Mini fans amongst you check this out: Mini Cooper S3 - A Mini with a M3 E46 engine in the back

I'll be damned if the guy didn't blow his ear drums!

Owww!!!

(Or are my speakers blown?)

Seriously, that's not "music", that's just one high pitched and loud squeak! Very quick, though. Also, the engine seems to exhibit almost no inertia, going from merely annoying squeak to do your ear drums in squeak in like 2 seconds? Could be the gearing too, of course.

2000 hour life cycle- that's how much power you can get when you stick a large kart engine into a car!

..and what a sublime chassis setup.i guess thats what you get with a small but powerful short life n\a powerplant coupled with a superbly balanced chassis.the way car just nicks on the inside of more powerful cars as if they were beginners.can't stand the whine though..ouch!!!

the whine is the straight cut gears but you can hear the engine roaring beneath that note.

think someone posted this video here before a long time back-i seem to recall this driver with his 'finger flicking' style. maybe i should start flicking my fingers when i drive too-might make me go faster!
