Came across two interesting items in the magazine. The first one was a "Very Serious Side by Side Car Test" where they compare a 320i with C250 and Passat CC. The test is unfair in terms of power where a 320d or a 325i will be a better to be in the comparo. And obviously the 320i came in last place because of.... lack of power :stupid:The second one is about BSRI. They claim that we can get free repair for "Dents in the body, scratches in the paint, chips in the windscreen and rip in the upholstery" with BSRI. I am not sure if anyone of you managed to get their dents fixed for free but when I asked AB they said have to do on my own.I thought only the Clarkson article is a joke but now it seems the whole magazine is as serious as Mad Magazine or Gila-gila

I guess DC is practicing what he preaches? No kowtowing to any specific brand just to curry favours.

Have you seen the review of the Peugeot 207 sedan? Believe me, I ain't no fan either of the sedan's looks, but the review given was pretty much spot on, despite the rather harsh verdict.

But will Peugeot or BMW stop sending their cars for TGM to review?

I guess not.

They should maintain their independence with their review but the comparison between cars should be fair in the first place.

Hmmm..I thought that was quite a fair comparison? The 320i is a 2.0 liter engine, The C250 is a 1.8 liter turbocharged and the Passat CC is a 2.0 liter engine. I havent seen the article, but I guess they are comparing petrol engines? In my opinion it would not be fair to compare the 320d (diesel compare to petrol) and the 325i (bigger CC). I know there's some inner pain when seeing our beloved marque been beaten by other brands, I felt the same when the F10 got repeatedly beaten by the Jaguar XF. Sometimes its just the way it is.

one NA versus two FI...this is fair ka? if u take FI factor to get NA equivalent which is approx 1.7...the merc is equivalent to 3.0l and the passat is 3.4l...so 2.0 versus 3.0 and 3.4...what a joke...

comparison with the coming 2.0 FI makes more sense...

nothing wrong but just a case of bad taste in selection of cars to make the comparison ...

Maybe they're trying to hint that maybe BMW should packaging their engines with FI to keep up with their competition?

I doubt so this is a reality... Anyone that can get their dents & scratches fixed for free under their BSRI, please do tell me.... I'll be inline to get it done at nearest SC ;-)

Well, if you manage to get the latest issue of Wheels Weekly, there's a nice write up of the F10 535i. :)

I felt the same. we must respect Mercedes for their CGI breakthrough. their 1.8 litre CGI engine can churn out more power than their own previous 2.6 litre engine!! BMW has to do something to maintain the UDM status.
