Richard, any idea how much does the 19" Race GTS weigh against Hartge's 19s and BMW M6's forged 19s?

breyton race GTS 19" - 26.5lbs / 12kgs
BBS LM 19" - 23.9lbs / 10.86kgs (not very light oso)
OZ superleggera 18" - 25lbs / 11.36kgs
OZ superleggera 19" - 25.6lbs / 11.64kgs

according to http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/:

anyone got a set of 16" style 134 lying around? wanna experiment the effect of using lighter rims...not sure if its worth the $$$ or not. heard these rims r the lightest in the e60 ori rims range.

Surprising indeed.. I thought the 167 is supposed to be 1.8kgs lighter than the ones on the M5..ah well,at least its forged.
Kinda like how the Breyton Race GTS and the Neez forged looks..but prices are indeed prohibitive, unless i can get a fair price for my 167s la..unlikely tho.

c'mon bro...u shud be happy with the 167's as u said they're forged, and i think they look good n unique on a 5 (esp black ones). i've a feelin the figures on the site are not accurate...

anyway what do u think i can expect by shaving off 1.3kg off each rim? any noticeable increase in performance / fuel consumption? i've found a set of breyton race gts 18" at a local dealer but its black...

Don't get me wrong,i'm very happy with the 167s..i've hit some nasty bumps/ holes and so far they've proven to be pretty bombproof with nary a vibe nor a shake.
Theoretically lighter alloys brings with it many advantages but u already know that i believe.whether or not u can actually feel the inprovements,i don't really know..when i had my 167s installed,i believe i did feel the car a little bit more lighter on it's feet but it might be perceptive..can't really say.
There will definitely be improvements..its up to u to quantify it.

i wonder if the effect would be like having a set of lightweight crank pulley...it felt real fun & nice to drive although the actual acceleration figures didn't differ much. feels like drivin an ess330i :)

hope someone could lend me a set of 16's to try out the effect of lightweight rims...

Guys,
Heard you all talking about rims, as I had order a set of work rims with size 19x8.5, 19x10, Can someone recommend the correct tyres size are suitable.

Recommend
this size of tyre u can use bro
245/35/19 front
275/30/19 rear

my new rim's work 20"

Will the thickness be the same. Last time I own a E46 & has 19x8.5, 19x9.5. I used 35x235 & 30x265 so the tyres actually alittle round & thickness same for the front/rear. I was wondering if using 35x245/30x275 or should I use 35x235/30x275 or 35x245/30x285. Hope you don't mind me asking too much. It just the cost of PS2 are quite expensive & I want the right size which looks good on my bimmer.

ess530i,

m wondering how heavy are the m-sport rims??? would it be the same as 124s? wonder how heavy are replicas? my RFTs are due for change and m contemplating whether to js change to 18inch normal tyres or should i upgrade to light 19" rims with normal tyres. wanna make sure that i get the lightest unsprung weight...

would you happen to know the weight of RFTs compared to non-RFTs?

AC525...style 124 are same weight as m-sport style 135's at 11.23kgs/pc. if u want lightweight then the better and cheaper options are 18's. since u're gonna be shopping for wheels, please let me know if you find any light rims & good deals. for tires, go for michelin ps2's or csc3 as they're lighter than most other tires...

oic...thanks ess530i...hence will try to look for lighter 18's if available.... would you know how much does an 18inch tyre weigh and how much lighter are ps2's or csc3's?

i did some weighing of RFTs it seems they are heavier than the m-sport rims itself!!! 13.5kgs(RFT) vs 11.3kgs (rim)...

changing tyres now to ps2(BRAZIL YEAR08) 245/40/18 rm980/pc(how's the price?),they weigh 10.8kgs only vs RFTs 13.5kgs, a saving of 2.7kgs per tyre and total savings of 10.8kgs off total unsprung weight!!!

the m-sport style is actually 12.8kgs per pc..

taiwan rims are only slightly lighter at 12.5kgs for 18inch(M5) and 19inch(breyton replica latest design) cos they dont sell ori rims. Weighed nankang tyres 245/35 19 at 12.5kgs/pc... hence 19inch rims and normal tyres should be same weight as bmw 18s with RFTs.. but dunno bout the comfort though... handling should be better due to the lower profile tyres without sacrificing fuel economy and acceleration...

RFTs lasted me 44000kms

PS2 cornering not as stable as compared to RFTs think due to their stiffer sidewall... i reckon only 19inch normal tyre can match de 18s RFTs sidewall stiffness and cornering stability... but at the expense of comfort... if only someone can tell me whether 19inch rim with normal tyres will be more comfortable than 18s with RFTs? or would it be the same or worse off?

This will aid me then next time my PS2s wears off and due for change...
