Hey guys, I just joined this forum a couple days ago after getting a 1991 E30. :DHope I'm not in the wrong thread, but mods, sorry if I am, move my thread if needed.Anyway, here's what she looks like now:

Some things I'm concerned with:1. Is there a place I can get the E30 manual online or something so that I can read up more on the car? I need to learn how to properly maintain it.2. The current paintwork is original from day one, so it's abit old by now, peeling in some areas. Thinking of painting it black or white, was wondering how much it would cost and where would be good? Of particular concern is that there is significant bubbling/scratches on the lower bumper areas.3. The retractable antenna is not working anymore (can receive signals, but won't retract). Was also wondering where to get it and how much?So far, I've enjoyed driving it, still on my first tank of gas, so can't comment on mileage yet haha. But it's definitely very energetic and fun. ;) Hope you guys can help me learn more about my E30.

1st of all, welcome to the club evil..eehh nickwong .. To answer your questions, actually the answers can be found in the forum. You just have to search for it or browse it 1 by 1.

Btw, I have the Haynes e-Book for E30. PM me if u r interested

evilnickwong,

first of all she's a beauty, dont know much about ur other q but the antenna thingy can kawtim easy. as far as myride is concern the auto acessory guy just sambung some wires then walla can go up and down andup and down and.......

It's not that the electronics don't work. It's just that the antenna is mechanically inable to retract anymore and is practically being held up by duct tape now.

yeah..is there any easy solution to the antenna thing ? i'm also encountering the same problem..hehe..tumpang thread :p

for your antenna, go buy new one. It only cost you over RM 100 bucks. Or you can buy a permenant antenna which cost less than RM 100.

As for paintjobs, there are a few good painters around town. Do a search. Affan just repainted his car, so you can check it out. Personnelly, i have two fav painter, one in damansara perdana and one in Batu Caves. You can PM for details.

If you want E30 Manual, I have it. You can pm me again for photocopy.

Do come over to Bkt Jelutong tt this friday, can check out yr car.

My mechanic told my dad that a new original antenna will be RM230. So that's abit pricey.

D'sara Perdana is nice and near. Have to save up for the paint though, so it's not happening anytime soon ahha.

I'm trying to get a PDF version of the manual from aRRrgghh, but thanks anyway! ;)

evil dude, welcome to the e30 world... :yes!:

do pop by to tt one of this days and meet up with the majority e30 owners...

rgds,

Antenna wise, what i did was, get the Bosch internal. It works fine. And I took out the rear antenna and sealed the hole shut!

Alternatively, chopshop do stock used motorised antennas from conti cars.

Bought mine 2 yrd back, working fine till today.

I second or third internal borsch antenna, clear reception and no worries abt switching off car engine before antenna fully retracted.

Well done bro! thats the best solution.

hkh_88: I love the look of those bodykits and AC rims, but I think new paint is more important right now. :) How much would the bodykit alone cost roughly btw?

I agree that I'd much prefer the Bosch internal antenna, but I'm concerned about what to use to seal up the hole. Zaskar mentioned to me that a Bosch internal would cost abut RM80, so if I can find a place nearby to do it, I'll probably get to it soon. :)

Any bodyshop can plaster it up. If you're painting your car in the near future, then it wouldn't be much of a problem.
