BMW Alarm System VS Add-ons

Need some opinionsI added a new alarm system kit with GSM and apparently after adding the alarm weird problems start occurring:-1. engine dies after 2 second of start up, then removed the anti-hijacking mode (this mode kills the car if stolen) after a day of removal, the car seems fine.2. air-cond not cold on start-up, but cold after a few KM of drive. (removed the whole alarm kit today)Test for a few more days first or else must see naidu already Currently using the key, but it isn't really affective. Sometimes it work, sometime it doesn't why ah?

E46 is a very sensitive car with all the sensors and what-nots. If you're fixing a external alarm system, you have to be very sure the car installing it knows what he's doing. So far, I have not heard of any case of BMWs being stolen. Thieves cannot hot-wire the car. Which is bad in a way, as they will then CARJACK you, which is a worst experience.

May i know what brand of security system are u using?

Mine are CAPTOR..so far didnt have any issue with engine or electronic system.

I just got it check with the wiring guys when the air-cond failed. Apparently it wasn' t the alarm but the bmw wiring man mention best not to have a GSM kit installed. Anyway i'll get him to re-fix my original alarm system. Currently the key is not functioning very well. That's the whole reason why i got the external kit.

Will get back to this post once i get that done.

A cheap solution is to put a cheap old mobile phone in silent mode in the car. then, you can use the telco's location base search for the car. Of course, remember to charge the phone's battery.
