Hi guys, new here.

I'm currently driving a 10 years old Mazda RX-8. been driving that since 2010 and is now approaching the 100k km in mileage and rotary has these myth of engine giving out when it reaches 100k. My car is at 70k+ and the symptom starting to show (parts dying here and there)

So rather than spending 30k or so rebuilding I want to get a used 630i. Partly because of the above but main reason is that I feel too old to be driving rx-8.
Will be 32 next year so wanted something a little bit appropriate for my age.

My boss father is selling his 2008 bmw for an extremly tempting price, RM 100k cash. The car only has 40k km in milege being one of the least car he drive, but when it switch hand I will be driving it daily and sometime fetching/meeting client. So I'm looking for advise and where else if not BMW forum.

My main question is this:

1. How is the fuel consumption?
been looking at fuelly but no data for 630i. FYI my rx-8 is currently at 5-6km per liter, I have heavy foot. V Power racing sometimes only can get me 4.3 km/l

2. It's a 7 years old BMW and even if it rarely driven I'm sure the wear and tear is there, so how much would it cost to maintain it for daily ride? like regular service, timing belt, oil change etc.

Thank You

For fuel consumption is easy, ask your dad to loan the car to you for a week. Fill it up and let your heavy foot do the driving and the on board computer calculate how much your foot is costing you.

For a car that has only moved about 40k km, should not have much wear and tear. But again, during the loaner period, bring it to a BMW service center to get it accessed by their service personnel.

How often do you get to test drive a car for a week before buying? I am sure your dad will be happy to see you maturing into a 6 series & dropping the RX8! Better deal will be to get your boss dad to give it to you as a company car. Just my opinion.

For a 630i 2008 (I presumed it's manufactured in 2008), RM 100k is a very good buy. Market price would be in the region between RM 130k to RM 150k. Mileage wise, it's always subjective if the car was imported used from UK or Japan, chances are the speedometer would have been tempered with.

With regards to maintenance, a car of 7 years irregardless of mileage done would have its fair share of wear and tear. Items such as brake pads, brake sensors, full suspension system (shock absorber, lower & upper arms) cooling system (thermostat, water pump, expansion tank, radiator, hoses etc), belts & tensioners (alternator & air-con), Auto trans oil would most likely needs replacement. Be ready for at least RM 8k to10k for these items.

Regular scheduled maintenance like replacing lubricant oil and filter would be about RM 600. Apart from this, roadtax for 3 litre would be about RM 2.2k a year excluding insurance.

Fuel consumption for a 3 litre would be in the region of 11L to 13L/100 km and highly dependent on your right foot.
