Anyone knows how to tighten the interior back panel, where the 3rd brake light is? Mine started rattling. Sounds like a bloody proton!!!

Lol. I had the same problem and it really drove me crazy. I initially just stuffed some tissue paper into it. I later replaced the tissue paper with some insulation material (i.e. something akin to rubber strips).

Done!!! Managed to get this strip of Black foam rubber. about 1cm by 2 cm thick. Cut out appropriate length to fit the panel where the Middle brake light is housed in. Stuffed the strip in the Gap between the panel and the windscreen.

Now no more rattling.

Thanks

i drill a few pilot holes from under the panel (from inside the boot, upwards) and used a few self tapping screws to secure the whle board down, nice and snug..:)..

no more rattles, squeals etc..:)..

Wow... very good fix. Too technical for me tho... heh heh

Anyway... I still have about a foot of that black rubber foam strip. You only need about 6 inches, so can fix 2 e36s. Anyone... PM me if you want it and I give it to you lah... FOC! :p

Very useful tip, guys.

I've just managed to get rid of all the sound from the front, and now that the car is so silent, I can hear the back panel vibrating faintly too.

So, that will be my next sound-proofing project... thanks for the tip.
