Hella E46 Bro,Yesterday, AB told me that my year 2005 E46 Lifestyle cannot cannot change the axle gear oil because no drain plug. They claim is long life oil no need to change. Anybody can confirm ? Thanks

There are no such thing as long lasting oil that no need replacement. In order to run smooth and better accuracy, gear oil is added to perform such task. Have u try other place yet, and get the same answer ?

I gonna to try at Chu Seng Penang, and see what the BMW specialist advise.

Yeah.. you can see the sticker at the bottom of the gearbox oil sump tray.. clearly state there.. "no need to change, long life oil".. something like that laaa.... I can't remember the actual wording...:top:

look at your rear axle, u should be able to see a big drain plug in the centre of the axle. mine is 318i and i already change my axle oil 2 time @ 60,000km interval, it consume about 1.1 litre, its relatively easy and fast to change just like your engine oil. the viscosity of the axle oil is normally 75w90 and cost around RM 30-60 per litre depending on brands
