Done 45+k in my 520d and thinking of changing the ATF at next service. Is it necessary? What's the cost? Anyone done it

I think around 60-80k should change ATF more because of the high torque we submit our diesel cars gear box to. I paid about 800 ringgit recently at Quill PJ for my 320d ATF change-done 85k km.

I was told the 8 speed box use a special ATF costing more then RM200 per liter. Quoted about double the RM800 by TS Ipoh.

My 520d already done 48k and also plan to change the ATF on next service. Ingress quoted RM1600.

Since yours is only at 48k km, shouldn't it be inclusive in the warranty package?

Why warranty claim? Is there a manufacturer defect?

Don’t think so (from BMW Malaysia website):

- Brake pads, front and rear.
- Brake disc, front and rear.
- Clutch (worn only).
- Windscreen wiper blades as part of routine maintenance.
- Vehicle check and standard services as set out in BMW service booklet in owner's documentation
(chapter : Maintenance summary, Vehicle check).
- Repairs beyond warranty covered during programme period.
-
Valid at any BMW Authorised Service Workshop, provided it is still within the 3-year validity period, or 60,000km.
-
Transferable to your car's next owner, provided it is still within the 3-year validity period, or 60,000km."

As stated by zaak, ATF change does not covered under BSRI.

Due to my driving style and our weather I plan to change it for preventive measure and peace of mind.

Based on my findings ZF recommend the ATF change at 80k and I did seen a leaflet at AB that ATF change is recommended at 60k.

Just out of curiosity, I bought my 523 last year and the warranty comes in 60,000km or 3 years whichever comes first.

Now they're offering 100,000km or 5 years; are earlier buyers like us gets the extended warranty?
