When I was changing my transmission fluid, I found out that my transmission is not the standard Getrag 200/250 as stated in the manual. Instead, its a Getrag 225. tried looking for info about it on the net but found nothing. Does anyone has any experience with this particular model of transmission?THanks!

The E36 318i gearbox isn't known to be rated for high torque. However, can still use for your s/c M42.
Just that wear and tear would be higher.
FYI, what kills the gearbox is not the horsepower, it's the high torque twisting power. If can tune the s/c for smooth torque delivery instead of the sudden kick-in-the-backside torque, the gearbox would last a while.

E36 M42 shld be getrag 220 .....same gearbox found in M50B20 & M50B25 ......

If u intend to supercharge ur M42 ...My suggestion is to change ur flywheel to at least 325 or even better 328 with d clutch as well......

good luck
