hahaha!

Okay... let's do this again.. Any recommendations? :p

Price range guys... i need price range and where? Place which installs it real good.
A place where, once installed even a fart on the hood will make the alarm go off!

clifford g4/g5 are good stuff but does not come with GSM tracking (I think).

There are a number of other products that offers tracking like Captor.

What she should be looking at would be one with the following features (I assume the Z3 is a convertible):

Required:
1. Shock sensor/microwave/proximity sensor
2. Tilt sensor - to avoid the car being towed
3. Active / passive arming (in case forgot to arm the car, you can program for the doors to lock itself but be careful as sometimes ppl forget they left their key inside the car)
4. Code hopping (to reduce duplication)

Options
5. 2-way remote paging. Remote has status display on car's security (door open and stuff). Range about 100-300m, unobstructed
6. Tracking (GSM-based, satellite-based)
7. Immobilizer (card-based, chip-based, numeric keypad-based).

spot on affan ... the G4/G5 are the best one here. you can add on stuff etc , auto start, lights on and blah blah blah .... but then i think the G5 is using the wireless immobilizer... Cost of this alarm is ranging somewhere around RM 2 ~ 3 K.

Yikes... sherl!!! Are you reading this??? Not cheap wor...

Personally i would invest in the cliffords... My future car... Soon... soon...

Affan... all those features you mentioned are in one package?

Iceman.. did u do yours yet?

niki,

you can buy as a package. The good thing about these alarms is that you can add modules based on your requirements.

The Cobra alarm which is a standard in most local BMWs is a plug n play module and integrates to your central locking with ease. No need to splice wires and stuff. You can also opt for the tilt sensor, shock sensor with the Cobra. Where to find cobra? The dealer/installer is in TTDI.

Yup. Another vote for Clifford top of the line ones (dont bother with the lower end models). I know a friend has it in her VW Golf GTi Cabrio and swears by it.

Although good and full featured, Viper alarms annoy me with their synthesized voice "Viper armed..." and their funky alarm sounds (which makes me think that there are more falses out there).

Hi there, I just got my Z3 fixed with Guardnet GPS system. Quite good actually, takes abt 6 hrs to install the alarm. Has h/p functions in it like calling out, checking car location, finding location and much more. Sadly abit expensive and yearly there is a yearly subscription of RM480 per annum. Anyone has this on their ride?
