ok ok ...my turn to report. Went to visit ah meng at usj mspeed, check here check there cannot find leak ...bcos all the time looking at the bottom :unsure: ...then inspect the top, found a hayline crack at the top of the radiator, near the outlet (beside expansion tank) connecting to the engine.

I asked cannot tampal ah? just once inch fine crack oni wor ....ah meng said is like cancer liao, sooner or later u may see cracks at other parts of the radiator. Worst case would be suddenly crack so big that all water gushes out and need to tow car.

Then i said pls fix it asap!! ...damage RM680 radiator + RM20 labor. Havent add coolant yet, will monitor for 2-3 weeks then report back.

My leak just got worst..

Top up on June 2nd and exactly 5days later on 6th June warning light came on and i need top up again.

This morning to work, as usual park my car nicely then took some stuff to off then went back out to my car to take more things and to my horror, front passenger side all my green coolant flowed out all over my front bumper and wheel!!

Hai, called my mechanic friend, he said need to check 1st and he suspect the radiator casing crack like what ylkhor said..

So finally sending my car in to check leak + change all necessary rubber hoses + repair top oil leak + replace transmission oil/filter/gasket + replace rear axle oil + replace power steering oil + replace brake fluid oil.

will keep you guys updated on a detail maintainance job + items + cost + any difference with the oil changes...

my case similar with your case, refer to link http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/inde...opic=128&st=210 only that my crack is in beside of the tank, my tow charge from genting to tmn mayang PJ cost me RM180, so far 4 days already, no more warning light on. how about your itemize charges ?

already more than two weeks, water light no more on, i think mechanic has fix the problem for me.

i am also monitoring mine coz just change the radiator, thermostat and radiator bracket, last time need to topup 50ml every week (very little actually) hopefully will not need to topup after this.

this morning.....yellow mellow light came on.........while to work.......then shortly went off.....then came on again.......then off.........

maybe car mabuk already........

left it to coll down in the car park.......will go shortly to check out the water level....

Well that is the sign .. could be your radiator storage tank giving way just like mine. Better get it replace if above 60k km else it will just crack. hihihi

just sent ti over to the workshop.......i think only tommorow can collect.........so many cars there............

anyway the car is almost 6 1/2 years old........millage also abt 90k +

Yo Guys....

Just collected my car.......apparenly some screw was loose.........relaced the screw.......charged me RM25.......so far so good.........

hope it stays that way ..........pray hard........

I experienced same prob. First time, amber light came on, sent to mechanic. he topped up water and said theres hairline crack. i didnt change it. wa fine for about a month when light came on again. it was only then i changed the radiator assy (where the hairline crack was). been fine for abt 3 mths until few days ago. light came on. topped up water (stick floated up). apparently a friend who also owns a e46 told me that his car osso like that. and that water needs to be topped up every few months. i found that strange cos other cars no such needs. anyways, after reading this thread, good to hear that topping up water regularly is normal for other e46s osso. so far so good

Had my "coolant low" problem today. After reading this thread, seems like a common problem. My mech advice me to do the bleeding and added 1l of water. His advise is to top up the water until water comes out from the pressure knob. I remember topping up the water about a month ago. Let's see how long it can last this time. Since this is my first e46, it really helps me a lot in understanding the problem after reading this thread. Thanks guys!
