Hello guys,Need some advice. My A/C system on my e34 isnt very cold and am lookin to upgrade or improve or repair if this is possible. Its a 1989 model which means it runs on the old a/c gas. Also, my temperature control dials do not make a difference. I believe they may have been disabled and probably runs some internal thermostat to regulate the temperature. Any recommendations on a place i can go?

Been sending my cars to Naidu - behind the Shell Station at Jalan Gasing, PJ (next to the EPF building).

Prices are reasonable.

Thanks for ur prompt reply dude. Btw, how much would u estimate i'm lookin at for a full on conversion to the newer gas system?

Yeah. I would strongly recommend Naidu. Been there a couple of times and this bloke will only fix it if it's really necessary. Make sure you go to the right one because right behind BP, there's also another aircon guy.

kws, my car is still running the old gas (R12). IMO, no point changing to the new gas system because the old gas is still available and is still cheap. Only when the old gas is hard to find and is very expensive would I convert to the new gas system. Naidu also advised me no point to change at this point.

But then again, to convert, I do not think it is too expensive. Just change all the seals / o-rings, gas inlet adapters and check if your compressor can accept the new gas.

Oh, the old gas is slightly colder too.

Old gas is colder eh? Hmm....perhaps i should just get my A/C system serviced instead of replaced as it doesnt feel cold enough....

Just repair or service it. Something must be wrong, otherwise it should deliver cold air.

It happen to lately. It cool when the day is cool i.e. early morning, night or rainy day and it warm when the day is hot i.e. bright shiny noon. My friend alway complain and i told them my aircond is a "climate control" (hi...hi...)
So, yesterday when to see the mechanic and found out that the fan motor are dying. If you knock it, the fan will rotate but 'lazyly". If you release a piece of small paper the size of 10 cent coin, it wouldn't sucked into the fan. Changed the fan (but still not yet paid cause to late and they gone a close shop already. Ask me to pay later).
Now if you release a piece of paper (size of 10 cent coin) approximately 2 inches infront of the fan, it will be sucked inside.
This morning, I though i was in Genting.

Naidu gets my vote :D but try to change to new components if you have the $$ don't change to recond stuff.

Naidu, any no?

My e21 acond blower seems weak as though the air not fully release and block, need to get my e21 going again as the project was halt due to other priorities!

Previously my a/c just blowing hot air as it's unable to cut-in especially during hot day. A mech told me that the compressor is dying, & the cost to replace it is around RM600  .

Then I found this guy - Ah Tuck at Petronas station near Jinjang, he just added a relay & re-wire the system, the compressor works again!! And he only charged me RM30 :yahoo: !!

go check out this place in SS2, oposite Sri Siam.... I think it's called Century. They do a lot of continental cars. So far, I am quite pleased with their service. But there are a couple of grumpy old men there, so tread cautiously. But they are very experienced....

Hi All,

Any places nearby my areas in Bukit Antarabangsa to service my Aircond ? Pls advise.

hmmm a/c story... bring back memories.. use to visit "the guy behind shell" for a/c repair. but just to share..he not "a/c repair god".. few months ago he misdiagnose my junk e30.. symptom was the compressor clutch is inttermitent enggaged. when enggaged-> cold, not enggaged ->hot.

he said its a clutch faulty.. need to change cost round 200-300 but recond stuff. ok told him im broke n i left. when back home and check wiring wic he did previously (he sent my compressor for "service" , reweld my old cooling coil and redid the wiring)
hmm found out the caused of the intermittent to my clutch. the connection(wiring) he made earlier was broken. soldered the wires and my clutch never fail to enggage whenever i turn on the a/c till now..

hes good but he still make mistake, mistake that cud hv cause me 300 bucks poorer :( , and if i left my car to him that day, he cud hv walkway with a simple soldering job

hope its still relevant to d topic. need to know some feedback fr E46 owners.

the co-driver side aircond is werkin perfectly fine blowin cool air to err whoeva sits nxt to me.

the prob is wiv the driver side. the air seems like wat had been described b4 dis ; cool durin colder days, warm durin hot sunny days. pls direct me to some reputable aircond specialist handlin lotsa continental cars pls.

thanx.

Visit mister Naidu yesterday.. guide by mister tyke.. ok laa.. he's doin the service, basuh tht cooling thing, penuh habukk hitam, change the valve, drier tabong .. ok laa.. tunggu dia buat 3 jam satisfied with his work.. bersih dan kemas...

Naidu gets my vote as the best aircon guy i've used personally.

Since refurbishing my unit more than one year ago, still in excellent genting-cool condition...

Furthermore, the guy is focused on solving the problem rather than pushing parts on the customer, which is rare nowadays.
