A friend of mine wanted to buy Auto Transmission Fluid for his car. Now, my friend is quite new to BMW world. However, he is a member in this forum. He has met a few from this forum during tt.With all these advices from other forumers here, he went to a famous local supplier who has many branchesthrough out our country. He asked them for ZF 6HP original fluid. They provided him the bottle below in the picture & told him this is ZF 6HP. He told them this doesn't look anything like the ZF 6HP original packing that he had seen before. The supplier convinced my friend saying that this is the latest ZF packing & the old bottle is no more around. On top of that, the supplier also confirmed that all the other branches are also selling this packing.Being convinced that he is buying ZF original fluid, my friend paid & went to a BMW workshop to change his auto transmission fluid. Below are the pictures of so-called ZF 6HP new packing.

Below are more pictures of the so called ZF6hp fluid with an original packaging.
& my friends, these original packaging is still available from ZF...

I'm planning to change mine as well. Went to local BMW dealer and at first they were like confused and replied back to me that the fluid is a life-long and there's no need to change. And there is no such service in system to change the ATF.
But then I asked him to inspect the oil pan and gasket whether is still ok or need to change. There is some minimal sign of leak around gasket.

To completely change the ATF, oil pan and gasket are needed to be replaced also. Then I went to ZF website to quote me the price of complete automatic transmission service. The price is whopping 500++euro together with 9Liter of ATF.
Now I'm thinking to let my transmission to be serviced by ZF itself. After all they are the expert.

A complete automatic transmission service for ZF 6HP-19 with original ZF-6 Fluid plus new oil pan & filter is about RM800.
For ZF 6HP-26 is RM1200 with original BMW 6HP-26 Fluid which comes in 20liter bucket...

Is that price includes work labour? If yes its good deal.
And which workshop is that?

Sorry brudder, it's not ethical for me to post here which workshop it is, for certain reasons. I'll pm you the details...

Spot on.

The procedure done by ZF is mysterious as opposed to Tim Eckert Verfahren. I guess that is what I'll be paying for, their expertise.

Isn't using this method would require more than 9litres of fluid?

Yet again, I agree of clearing out the oil in the torque converter as much as possible.

Everything and every method is better than no oil changes at all...

Cheers

Wolverine, do you know the price for a complete ZF 5HP-19 service ? Is it really necessary to change the oil pan ? I thought new fluid, filter and gasket would be sufficient. The oil pan at the bottom appears to be a passive part and can be reused. Please PM me the name of the shop and many thanks for sharing.

For the ZF 6HP, the oil pan is the the filter itself. So, the oil pan is changed at every service. Of course you dont need to change the oil pan for the ZF 5HP unless it is damaged which hardly occurs...

Back to the topic, I also found out that my friend paid the same price of original ZF6 fluid for the other one from that supplier...

Bro Wolverine,

Thanks for sharing this alarming issue. Actually there are many fake parts flying around in the market. Sometimes even the packaging are the same. Thanks to the booming industry in China and our Malaysia Boleh spirit. Thats why I prefer to get parts from SG due to its originality and authenticity. Thou sometime price and cost is higher. Not to mention the trouble and hassle. Mind PM me the supplier name. TQ

Bro, I've seen parts from Singapore (famous supplier), fakes as well...sad to say.
However this is the first time I'm seeing a famous supplier here doing sumthing so irresponsibly...
