5P (5 Problems) of my E36

E36 318i M43 1997Hi, still a newbie with E36. driving it for 1 month already and ive got few problems, thanks in advance for any helps.1. Gear sign came out and transmission jerks once enter and exit 3rd gear, though this problems come andgo. Do i just have to change transmission fluid? Or there is something wring with my gearbox module or the gearbox it self.2. Every morning, every now and then. the engine's timing is unstabble. Sometimes it goes down below 500RPM for few seconds and dies off. Ive ask few people, it might be the Air Flow Mass. It would cost RM350 to RM450 from kedai potong, RM800 plus from aftermarket. Not even sure which one is the best.3. Aircond off for few minutes and back on whenever it wants??4. High pitch whirring sound whenever depress the fuel pedal. The sounds seems to be coming from the alternator and belts area.5. Hitting sound from rear absorber. Also it comes and go.I think no. 1 and 2 is crucial for me to do first, but i didnt now where and how much for it. And, getting merried soon, lots of budget going there.

Where's your location? Better to send to a good mechanic to check your problems.

1. This is due to the problems you are facing in No 2. Your trans programme light will come on if your engine is not healthy. If your engine cannot supply consistant torque to your transmission, it will go into safe mode, which is what u r experiencing.

2. Your engine is having problems. Check the following:
a) Air mass sensor
b) Camshaft sensor
c) Knock sensor
d) All your rubber hoses and intake air boot
Best thing is do do a complete diagnostic for your engine and decipher the fault codes.

3. This is related to your problems in No.2

4. Your belt tensioner pulley needs to be replaced.

5. Your rear absorber mountings need to be replaced

im usually at kinrara area, noticed quill automobile but i heard cekik darah.
but working at KLIA,... dificult to find any proper workshop here.

have any idea, where should i go? im still new loh, takut kena tipu.

all i need to do is check from a) to d)... others related to this.
for belt and mounting, it wont give serious trouble in 5 to 6 month right? or im wrong?

Change your gear oil first and see whether it solve the problem. This is the cheapest way to try settling it.

Dun worry too much. Nowdays Auto gearbox is only going for 2K+.

the car is teribbly out of tune,... send it at bandar salak tinggi,...
im not sure i kene tipu or not...

first they do injection cleaner,... problem still arise, then they suggest me change the spark plug, still the same. then electric tunning, i had to leave coz got meeting. once i come back, it cost me RM200. he even inform me my AFM is dying, dunno how long it would last.

i think the spark plug is not necessery.

bro, change your AFM..u can get aftermarket one from MOHD 012-6232201..

i have the same symptom before, car idling very bad and die, and after some time, when it really give up, it won't start anymore..normally if ur AFM got problem, your car will start but dies off right away..
