Hi all.My parents just got a 2005 Japan-Spec 525i M-Sport. First time owning a Beemer and a little clueless regarding a few issues.1. Could anyone help direct or provide information regarding what actually differentiates the M-Sport beside the obvious aesthetic bits?2. Also, I have been reading many threads regarding the radio modification. So can I conclude that it is best not to change it at all?3. Sames goes with the DVD GPS system. Is it best not to tamper with it or is there a place where I can get a M'sia DVD?4. The last owner didn't have a manual. Is there anywhere I can get one?5. Is there a safe way of removing the phone-bit so I can have more space in the storage compartment?6. Any crucial information that I should know about?Really appreciate the help guys. Thanks so much. Hope to learn loads from everyone here.Chris

Welcome to The Club!!!! :top: Your parents have made a wide decision :D so did you get to drive it once in a while too??
Will try to answer your questions:

1) Since the E60 is Japanese specs... things that are different compared to those Hi-Line or SE models are the semi-bucket seats, aluminium trim rather than wooden trim for its interior, don't have to elaborate much on bodykit... but your car comes with M-Sport suspension that lowers your car by 15mm (if not mistaken) and also Run-Flat-Tyres (RFT) that makes the ride more bumpy compared to normal tyres...

2) This question is quite subjective.. really!!! If you parents like to listen to radio, then it is best to change the whole CCC. But the cost might set you back at RM8k to RM10k... unless they are content with listening to CDs only.

3) Once you have change the whole CCC... you will also solve the Sat Nav problem. If you didn't change the CCC, the current Sat Nav is useless. So no GPS, no radio...

4) About manual, you can try to ask from AB, Ingress or Sapura... but I don't know if they get one for you... and if they do, normally they will charge. When I bought my E60 Japanese specs.. the sales exec actually photostat a copy for me :top:

5) just remove the phone-bit... practically useless coz it only works with Japanese phones.

6) If your car is unregistered when you bought it, remember to see if they change the transmission oil, brake oil, coolant, engine oil... coz the car is already 4 years old... also check the spark plugs too...

Hope this helps

Yea thanks. That helped.

The car is actually in perfect condition. We bought it from a friend actually. He did it up nicely before we bought it.

Hi... I just download my manual through the internet.Mine is japanese spec as well

Can you send me the link to the file? Thanks...=)

You can download from the link in the thread, use the UK specs one. The site doesn't provide Japan specs, but almost everything the same besides the entertainment, phone, navigation :) All of the mechanical, and other important things are the same. I printed out the e-manual, read through almost everything. Its good to have some knowledge, spend time with your car, trying out the iDrive settings, and listen and feel the car while driving completes the experience.

There is no chrome trim around the windows for the M-Sports Models. It's black finish.

Auto Bavaria sells the manuals for a whopping RM200+
