Hi,I've been following this forum or quite some time and find this forum really helpful.I wold like to ask all the sifus here on the e46, 325i. I saw 1 unit, unreg, year 2004. Looks clean and good. Price is RM 148k. Can anyone tell me, what to look for when viewing the car? Any particular parts that I should pay more attention to it? And the price, I feel it is on the high side... any one can comment on this. ThanksFear

get the last 7 digits VIN number on the engine bay which is on the driver side and put it on www.realoem.com to confirm the year it was made and to confirm the model variant ... rm148k is the list price or the offer price? is it a m-sport model or not?

148K is the market price. It is slightly higher but the advantage is that you might get lower interest for the loan.
In the long run, it might work to your advantage due to the low interest rate.
Also can choose new reg number. I think affan66 also opt for this option and I think he is happy.

I just got a e46 Msport end 04 for less than 140K but it is 2 hand.

it's not the m-sport version. I was told by the SA that he can nego with his boss on the price to be around 140k. Year is 03, not 04. Mileage is

Thanks very much for your info. Will scout around for a better unit with a reasonable price. However, wife doesn't really agree to get a 5 or 6 years old car. She has a point though... buying a car that is due for repairing.... How ah?

Just my 2 cents worth .... You wife has a good point in terms of ecomomics. Why would someone pay 100 over K or even 90K plus for a 4 to 7 year old car when in those price range one can get a brand new Sentra or Toyota etc which for sure will not give you any problems for at least the 1st 3 years

Having said that, owning a UDM (BMW) is another ball game all together. If is all about the passion. Of course one can go for a brand new E90 and the same applies..... but the the price is again 200K plus.

So many UDM addicts like us have to settle for a older cars and of course the maintenance and other related problems will there due to the age of the cars. In the end you must ask yourself why you are looking for an UDM. Of course the drive and handling of the UDM is very different from other cars. But on top of that there must be passion. Without that pssion it may not look economically a right decision, but with the passion factor thrown in it is worth every cent..........................

Once one had owned and driven a UDM, be it a E30, E36, E46 or E90...... it is something else man.

So you will have to ask your self this question first, how badly you want to own a UDM, once you have an answer for that question, everything else will fall into place and the logic of getting a older car for such a high price can be easily justified.

This was my personal experience when I bought my first E36 and now have upgraded to a 2002 E46. I have no regrets and if I have to do it all again, I think I will decide the same way
