Thanks very much for your info. Will scout around for a better unit with a reasonable price. However, wife doesn't really agree to get a 5 or 6 years old car. She has a point though... buying a car that is due for repairing.... How ah?
Just my 2 cents worth .... You wife has a good point in terms of ecomomics. Why would someone pay 100 over K or even 90K plus for a 4 to 7 year old car when in those price range one can get a brand new Sentra or Toyota etc which for sure will not give you any problems for at least the 1st 3 years
Having said that, owning a UDM (BMW) is another ball game all together. If is all about the passion. Of course one can go for a brand new E90 and the same applies..... but the the price is again 200K plus.
So many UDM addicts like us have to settle for a older cars and of course the maintenance and other related problems will there due to the age of the cars. In the end you must ask yourself why you are looking for an UDM. Of course the drive and handling of the UDM is very different from other cars. But on top of that there must be passion. Without that pssion it may not look economically a right decision, but with the passion factor thrown in it is worth every cent..........................
Once one had owned and driven a UDM, be it a E30, E36, E46 or E90...... it is something else man.
So you will have to ask your self this question first, how badly you want to own a UDM, once you have an answer for that question, everything else will fall into place and the logic of getting a older car for such a high price can be easily justified.
This was my personal experience when I bought my first E36 and now have upgraded to a 2002 E46. I have no regrets and if I have to do it all again, I think I will decide the same way
