bro,
Yes, the initial maintenance cost (depending on the overall condition of the vehicle) for the first 1-2 years would be high averaging at least RM 800-1000 per month. The cost would come from various "wear & tear" parts for a 10+ years old car. It's definately a different ball game $$$$ compared to Honda. Good luck.

Hi welcome to the forum. Since you are new here, you are required to make an intro of yourself at the Newbie section in our forum.
As for your question, you can head over to the Maintenance page and read through..its lengthy, but you will get an idea of it.
Btw, good choice on the E39...way to go..dont be afraid...Just do it!!!

and E39 with unattended undercarraige bushings and oil leaks will cost in excess of 10k to rectify. much more if incl shocks. once done, just change engine oil every 10,000kms.

Share with u my experience.

1st got the car, RM12000 burned.

Then RM6000 per annum for maintenance.

Estimate the maintenance will reduce to RM4000 per annum after 2010 (as almost everything changed)..:4:

really depends on the previous owner how well he take care the car. like my, i brought it in 2003 and sold on 2007. the things i done only replace full set of shocks with eibach spring to lower it, hamann rims and one front arm. other than that is just oil change only and the tires too because E39 quite heavy on tires .
is a nice ride, once on it, you will feel proud to ur decision.

So the buyer of your car would have spent thousands of $$$$:wink:

Thanks all... it was a nice ride i drove the car for a few KMs, defintely cool, the current owner seems to have spent about 20k on the car already and he had had the car for just a year, i will check out the maintenance section for good mechanics to d a once over of the car, but any quick recommendations on the mechanics to check the car out....

The least you can do is to use a small torch light to poke and shine around the engine bay area to see whether there is any wet or leaking hoses and wet spot/stain around gasket area or undercarriage. Other areas, better leave it to the trained eye and hand of a good mechanic to help you.

hi, mine is for sale... spent more than 20K for restoration... only thing left to do is interior leather restoration... asking for 58K..

give me a call if u are interested

Alan
