Hi e39ers,See my intro and I'm wondering if the title on this thread is acceptable. How bad is a insurance claimed 20+k repair in authorised dealer? I can see the whole front panel is new - headlights, radiator, few hoses but at least the expansion tank is old. Good quality workmanship and you wouldn't know the diff from untrained eyes. Car drives well and have no issues/faults.Previous owner maybe on this forum too as I deduced he's a very fussy car owner who loved his UDM, the way he maintained the car and the condition of the interior.I don't see much issue unless any expert here have something up his/her sleeve.

So you are saying this car had an accident, hence replacement of above parts? Workshops that are on the insurance panel are NOT bmw specialist. If I were you, I would replace the expansion tank (ori RM 320). Like I mentioned in the other thread, send your car to a specialist and have a thorough diagnostic and mechanical tests.

herbert - are you doing your round in this forum - website RT. you're posting faster than I can reply
YES, accident with repair done in AB.

Come and join us for TT this Friday and we will check out your car.

Any reason why you would want a car with an accident history? there are plenty of 03 around to choose from. take your time and you will definitely find one.

He has already signed up for the car so no turning back but to go forward and enjoy the car. Perhaps pricing could be attractive since accident wasn't a major one.

oh... since already bought then go ahead and enjoy the car and not think too much on the accident.

i've seen many e39 over time and not many are in the condition I like. This one called for me and eventhough its has some work done/accident repair, I'm still attracted to it. My judgement and few mechanic friends indicated its a manageable problem. Go ahead with it and hopefully it will be OK.
