Bro Nahanella where are you located?

What is the difference between a comprehensive & a 3rd party insurance?

I was loaded 15% extra by stupid Kurnia cause I was under 21? wtf.
Since I boycott them ( I didn't want Kurnia at 1st but I didn't instruct my insurance agent properly.. my bad), I used Chartis (formerly known as AIG) this year.

hi bro..located in shah alam,,,,u can give ur details to get quotation.....
abt the loading i think in future all insurance company will do same as Kurnia..... and dont be shock if Bnak Negara revise the underwriting rate where the premium will go up:eek:.... at the moment only Malaysia charging very low ins premium.... but i hope n trust BNM wont revise in near future bcoz will burden Rakyat....:top:

Comprehensive - covered for accident claim (own damage) / theft / fire / third party liability:top:

3rd party - cover 3rd party liability only ( u cant claim own damage claim / fire / theft) :eek:

only old car tht no market value or very low market value advise to take 3rd party

I just renewed my comprehensive insurance for my 1995 E36 325i. Switched to Oriental Capital Insurance...no loading.

My advise if u drive a car 10 years or older, hunt around as not all insurers are the same.

There are other terms called excess and betterment. Have to watch out if they impose excess or not. However, don't think old jalopies can escape from betterment. Haiz.

Hi there,

U provide policy under which insurance co especially for BMW & Merz of more than 10 & 15 yrs old?

sorry OT... less than 15 years, additional premium a pain but still have choice of insurance companies if i understand correctly. But more than 15 years, added hassle with puspakom a real pia. Also limited to uni asia and post office i think. So sad seeing my 19-year old e34 stranded under tree.

Just been charged near RM300 for my '94 Volvo's 3rd party++ insurance.. :(

Used to pay less than RM100..

Used to keep my insurance with UOA, I gave them a call and ask if they still do 3rd party insurance. They say yes, but only to existing customer. But I told them I have been with them for the past 14 years and never claim before, just transfered out 1 year only and I wish to transfer back but they refused. Still consider new case and they don't accept new 3rd party insurance case anymore.. sigh! :(

Like I said blood sucking leeches...they give you the umberella when the sun shines and take it away when the rain storm hits... typical cutthroats... my car just over 10 years and these bloodsuckers have been loading me with the 15%.... FYI AmAssurance

My 1991 E30 is under comprehensive from Chartis. I used to have loading of 10% for drivers under 23 years of age, but now no more loading, even for an old car. Just as info.

Betterment clauses are definitely there tho. This alone makes me think eventually it's probably just better to switch to 3rd party already.

Been 4 pages now but it seems none has put up the insurance premium price except me, apart from the 10%, 15% loading la, bla.. bla.. bla... so how much are you all paying la? and which insurance company?

Lol. Mine's Chartis as mentioned, E30 insured for 15k. (abit under for a 1991 I know)
Can't remember exact number, but my final premium after 40+% NCB is abour RM380 or something?

That's a very good price, I am paying near RM300 for 3rd party!! Zero sum insured! :eek: Maybe next time I pay extra RM80 and make it comprehensive.. :eek:

But that's with NCB and also my insured value is quite low. Lol.

And again due to betterment, I doubt they'd really pay much if *touch wood* I really need to claim anything one day.

btw, I'm on 55% NCB, never claim before since the car roll out of showroom in 1994.. thank you for rubbing it in, Sum Insured: RM0.00 :(

Early this year I went to postoffice & they told me for my 20yr plus car, it's about Rm300++ for 3rd party (incl all the crabs) & rm250 only if 1st party (55% ncb) for rm10k coverage. So for the first time in decades, my car had full coverage @:}

did your car go through puspakom inspection?

No inspection was required. The clerk simply change it online... how convenient :) done at the post office at ikano/ikea
