Hi all ..I will be going for my 100k km service soon and i wonder what are the key stuff that i will have to change/replaced/service?Do i need to replace the fuel filter?BTW .. may i know what are the spark plugs that you guys normally use? Thanks ..Regards,JS

In my opinion, this question is subjective to how the ride has been maintained so far.
You could renew/replace anything from MAF sensor(s), O2 sensors to brake pads/discs....

Thanks Astroboy ..
Is it a must to change the Crank Case Valve? or just to ensure its in good shape?

Crank Case Valve a.k.a. oil seperator a.k.a CCV

Hi Seewai ..
This is tough :p cause the car is with me for less than half a year ...
From surface it looks ok .. i had changed the rear disc 1+ months ago but never check on the sensors though ..
Will the full scan able to tell which sensor requires replacement?

jsng,

Rather rare to find an e39 2002/2003 which is about 9 to 10 years has only done 100k km. It's a CBU or local CKD unit?

It is responsible to separate oil from the fume/breath the valve cover and divert air back to intake manifold while the oil, back to the dipstick passage, back into your oil sump. The way it did the trick is to channel the fume through a spiral of tunnel within the CCV to cool down the fume where oil trapped in air will settle. Cold oil will slowly turn into goo and it's a matter of time, it clogs out the cooling passage. That's when the engine is choking, cold start problem, smoke from tailpipe, engine abruptly dies, no power, and a long list of other problem. Just like your air filter, is it a must to change? I didn't change mine.. now 80k km d.. :4:

Heard of oil catch tank?

How are you sure the car has only done 100k km since you only bought it half a year ago?

You know the mileage are normally tempered with.

Hi Herbert ..
How to differentiate whether its a CBU or Local unit?
A fren of mine source this for me .. and its a first owner car. The meter shows that its 89K KM when i get it, and John from Bomin did comment that this should be a low mileage car after his preliminary inspection .. and off course i hope its true lah :p

Thanks ..

JS

Hmmm .. this is indeed a good question :)
Well, i guess i can only trust my fren who source this for me .. and John/Bomin who think the same too when he check on it during my last visit.
But one thing for sure is, this car should be extremely under utilized as i can see that most of the parts are still the original one (perhaps start from day one).

When i change the expansion tank, i had notice that the tank is manufactured somewhere around year 2003/2004 .. which shouldnt be able to last so long .. off course i might be wrong:p

Anyway, all i can do now is to assume that its a 100k KM car :p

Go to www.realoem.com and enter the last seven digits of your car VIN number.Result will tell you where the car was produced/assembled.

If it's local CKD from Auto Bavaria, you can go to any AB workshops and check the last service record of the car.

Got it ...
PFB for some details extracted
Type code DT24
Type 520I (MYS)
Engine M54
Displacement 2.20
Prod.date 2002-10-21

I guess this is a local car?

Yes, MYS is Malaysia. So quite easy now to find out whether the speedometer has been tampered with. Drive to Auto Bavaria's service centre (Sg Besi or Glenmarie), bring your car registration card and request the service centre to check when the last service of your car.
