'03 E46 325i tire recommendation for 16"

Gents, current tire spec. is 225/50/16. Have been shopping around for a tire and found out that this is not a very common spec therefore choices are limited and prices are high.However, is it recommended to go lower to 205/55/16? There are more choices available at that size and prices are more attractive compared to the above.

Hi Anxious,

excellent thread. It was exactly what I was looking for, acutally, can you comment on the following:-

1) Price that you paid for your Michellin PP2 205/55/16?
2) Any experience with the same size tire for Goodyear F1 or Yokohama S-Drive;
3) Is it possible to use 205/50/16? found the Yokohama S-Drive at that size going for RM355/-
