Just look around those modded cars in Malaysia. How many of the modded engine bays look like that? If you want the engine bay to look like that, then that means cost is not an issue anymore, is it? Then why the need to mod a BMW with a non-bmw japanese engine? Might as well get the E46 M3 CSL.

OP,

If your intent of buying a BMW is to bastardize the Roundel, then you are in the wrong forum...

Please look elsewhere!

i have a 2002 2JZ-VVTi Engine ready to be dropped in. Ready to eat up an M3 or an M5 anytime of the day:) chassis wise, it will be strengthened and reinforced.

unkle, hehehe...with words like above, expect a lot of flak :) although it's true, but its still sensitive. hehehe.

instead if dropping in a 2j, why dont u turbo the bmw engine? impo, bwm with jap engines are so yesterday, been done a thousand times. which is why i went turbo'ing the bmw engine instead. cost wise, i'm not so sure that it'll be more expensive, if you're comparing the bays of the pictures u posted. dont forget, our heads are NA based, so the flow is pretty good from the start :)

but all in all, would love to see you're finale once done. especially if you're going the route as the above pics. target whp/wtq? cheers

why do i have to look around the modded ones in malaysia ? this is my own project and of course it would look smick and neat, i am NOT buying one that is already modded in the market. You're asking me to look at other malaysian modded bmws to judge how it would potentially look like as a end result ? wheres your logic mate?

Cost is of course an issue, thats is why i intend to buy a E36 coupe chassis. If cost wasn't an issue, i would be looking at a E92 M3 (RM400k mark), not even a E46 M3 would come close to a 2jz.

I posted this thread to buy a E36 Coupe, so of course i am in the right forum. I am here not to debate and to accept other's opinion on whether i should buy an E36 M3 or E46.

Stay clear of my thread if you're here to suggest a E36 m3 engine or buy a E46 m3. Cost is a concern and power is also a concern, therefore a E36 coupe platform is chosen (cost) and a 2JZ GTE-VVTi engine is chosen (power).

Keep your comments to yourselves. I've been kind enough to justify my reasons for my purchase though i don't have to. I decide how i want to spend my money, not you.

Thank you.

Like I said, unless if cost is one of the main concerned here, the cons are more than the pros in modding a BMW with a non-BMW engine.
As of what whether I have driven any of the said engines, well, my old ass has owned more than 20+ modded cars in my younger life.. from a TA28 and TA22 with 4AGe, an E32 with 2JZ-Gte, Datsun Cedric 280C with a RB26, a Frontera with a SR20det, and yes the classic Toyota Supra. The engine transplants stopped the moment I got hold of a stock E46 325i, even subsequently bought a E46 318i for the missus, although she has now dump the ride aside in the garage for the Golf.

Looking back, most of the mods were just crap... hard power without real oomph, just like sex without ejaculation. Try driving an E36 or E46 M3 for a month and compare that to one of your friends modded 2JZ E36 after a month and you will know what I mean. Plus, there are also just so many good stock BMWs out there, the 335i or even the new F30.

At the end of the day, if we want a Toyota engine, might as well drive a real Toyota.
i appreciate your comments. But that is how you like your BMW's to be, and i have my take about how I want my BMW's to be too. My E39 and family's E60 are for comfort use, and are stock. The reason for my purchase of a E36 coupe with a 2jz gte-vvti was to have a fun and reliable car anytime of the day on a budget. You're suggesting me a E36 M3 (Rm80k to 100k mark) and a E46 m3 (RM150k mark) in which power and torque doesn't come close to what a 2jz gte engine is capable of. And thank you for suggesting me a 335i and a F30, like i wouldn't know it would be better ? You're comparing an almost 20 year old car which is what I am looking to get versus a newly-released ? Common sense would tell you that a newer coupe would be better mate.

Also, looking at your past transplants on those cars, it is no wonder why you are dissatisfied with them. Doing a engine transplant takes more than just picking an engine that you "think" is suitable and dropping it into a car and then expect it to drive like "stock" There are so many factors to account for. Weight distribution of car, kerb weight of car, power to weight ratio, etc.

And also, to answer your last part of your reply, yes i do have a real toyota that makes 560hp at the wheels. And you would probably already know what car it is.

I understand where you're coming from being a BMW enthusiasts. Mind you, i am one myself, but this is a side project where fun, thrill, reliability, becomes a package.

Foolish assumptions are made when one is thinking between the legs.
A genuine BMW enthusiast will only want a 'Real' BMW which is carefully designed, over-engineered & manufactured with utmost passion and the kind of renowned QC and QA that the brand has been know for. No matter how gigantic and delicious the silicon boobs of a girl looks from the outside, nothing beats the feeling and touch of a real one no matter what the size is.

Anyway, have fun in your little project, young man.

foolish assumptions are made when one is thinking between the butt cheeks (a.k.a the A-Hole) , not the legs.

"No matter how gigantic and delicious the silicon boobs of a girl looks from the outside, nothing beats the feeling and touch of a real one no matter what the size is ?" - Yes i am sure, the feeling and touch of a real one is a much better choice for you (even though saggy and wrinkled - who cares right ? damn, as long as they are real ! yes?), well that's your kinda thing and preference, but definitely not for me :) i will touch Carmen Electra's fake boobs anytime of the day rather than Betty White's real boobs.

And you're spot on about me being young, therefore my choice of a 2jz because they are like "boobs" that will never go old, saggy, and wrinkly, always there to impress and just like a loyal friend whom one can always rely on. It is no wonder even today's standards that the 2JZ's are used as a platform in the modification scene, breaking 1000 to 1500whp with no sweat, and you can go on punishing them again and again without worrying about breaking a conrod or bearing. Perhaps when i get to your age, my ambitions would be toned down.

Thanks and i will definitely have an awesome time with this epic project. Cheers

i just hope your fun, thrill and reliable project kick off soon ...ya found ya target car already ??

if not mistaken there is one yellow e36 coupe too running on somesort of japanese heart ...but can't recall his nick ...
