Guys,My e39 windscreen started with a small crack, and now the crack has lengthen to almost a foot.. i didnt do the 'patching-up' repair on the screen because thought of claiming with insurance..When i went to the panel worksyop, i was quoted RM 3000 to replace the windscreen, where as my insurance is rm 2000 only..sigh, is it that expensive? anywhre i can fix it cheaper ?any input is welcome..

RM3000 for ori German imported one. U can replace the MSG made on rm1500.

I just replaced mine recently with a german original one. Total cost is less than RM2k. They will probably charge you RM2k because I changed both the front and the back. So the slight discount. This shop is a big and reputable shop. PM me if you need more details.

By the way mine does not have a rain sensor. It will be slightly more expensive if yours have the rain sensor. Still it wont cost you an arm and a leg. You will need to change the rubber lining too when you change the windscreen.

thx bmw7833.. now need to find the shop.. any recommended worksyop?

naharmns, may b u can try to PM 525i for the contact.

Did mine for RM1,330 3 weeks ago. MSG glass including the rubber strip on the side. Did it in Bandar Sunway. Good job too. Took about 2 hours. They can also arrange for a photographer to take the before and after pics for insurance claims. Let me know if you want their contact.

BTW BMW 7833, did you finally manage to get your windscreen claims?

naharnms, the sifu those mentioned by 525i did a good job for our car.

Did mine with original windscreen + rubber strip+ good work = RM2000 in Penang . Insured 3k , balance 1k reserved for V-kool .

I have a used but like NEW to let go because a friend upgrade his to "with rain sensor" .

If anyone interested, please PM me.

guys.. thanks for all the feedback..
Finally did mine at CITY AUTO centre (taman mayang, same row with stutgart) since this wsyop is in the panel list from ETIQA.
Important thing is i dont have to come up with a single cent..
My insurance cover is RM2k, so as expected, the worksyop 'maximise' all the 2K amount, with all the moulding and rubber strip replaced.. one day job, so just leave the car..

cheers

hi naharnms, maybe u would like to contact mr.wong at bavarian auto ss18 subang jaya.i've done mine there.
its EZ.

....actually if its just a a crack its better to repair than change, Why? go to the link provided below to find out why. I just did mine when I discovered a 2inch crack and since its still original factory windscreen I decided to fix it rather than change it, I did it at Glass Mechanics in SS2, it came out to RM250 as 2 other small cracks were found so the amount was inclusive to repair the other 2 cracks as well but I didnt even have to take out a cent, just fill form with your particulars and who your insurer is and policy number and its done.
