I'm interested in getting a professional driving license so I can drive a car in any country I went to. Any idea where I can get one, how long would it take to pass the test and the cost? Thanks.
That one is called International driving license.... Not professional driving license...
Not sure about where to apply for international driving license.
But for Professional driving license, can get either from AAM or MAM... Validity is till end of calendar year... This, my friend, is for racing in AAM or MAM sanctioned races.
Yup the Stelvio Pass area. By the way, got my International Driving license today. Spent 20 mins at JPJ at PJ old town. Only need copies of IC & driving license, photograph and form JPJL1.
Got stopped once in Germany - and i showed the cop - this 'manila-card' type license. He laughed at it ... !
Our MY license can be used in Europe for 1 month - at least that's what the rental car company said to me.
I was told last time when I got my Int'l License to drive in the UK, that if you use Msian License you may have problem with Insurance claims in case of accident. But with Intl License, no problem.
Anyway all the points above are valid, you can use the Malaysian licence for limited periods, in UK you can use the Malaysian licence or the International licence for one year (same period). After that you're supposed to take the British licence. Although I did drive with my Malaysian licence for 7 years!! To be safe just take the International licence.
If you were to take the UK driving licence it will be valid until you're 65.
I remembered seeing my dad's UK driver's license before, and was quite surprised when he said it's almost akin to having a license for life since you don't have to renew it.
Just can't understand why we are required to have licenses with expiry dates. Another way to siphon money from us?
I applied for an IDL before I went to Bristol to study, but ended up being for show only since I never drove, and always relied on taking the bus, cab or the trains to get to where I wanted to go there.
