My E30's Ansa exhaust has started making all sorts of loose noises from within. I want to just replace it with a decent exhaust and maybe the center box too as that's the original and might be contributing to the noise.I have no idea about good exhaust shops though. Does anyone have any recommendations around TTDI/Damansara/IKEA area? I'm a bit concerned with how they hang it properly using the E30's rubber hangers etc. Also, not too bothered with getting a branded exhaust, so probably will want any decent straight-flow exhaust the shop might have.

Not really. But the backbox definitely has gone loose inside, so it needs replacing anyway haha.

I don't know of anyone doing exhaust in the area but I usually go to Everco in Sunway. There is another shop "ah something" in USJ1 and also famous is JFA exhaust as well.

No problem. In fact they prefer old cars and repair works. Unless you want to do custom stainless steel piping

Thanks for the contacts. Is it generally OK to get a generic exhaust that the shop has? Or are those prone to fail quick? I don't really feel like paying a few k for a brand new Remus/Supersprint/etc.

Hope communication won't be an issue for a banana like myself too hahaha. :D

Ended up going to Ah Soon in SS3 as recommended by Lozo. Boss was a nice friendly guy, so was his worker who did a very good job fabricating custom mountings and making sure everything lined up right. Attention to detail was very good. :) Also did a good job cutting the rear bumper on my E30 to accomodate the larger new exhaust.

Thanks Lozo!

A day at the exhaust shop

As you wish mizhan haha...

The new exhaust:

It's a local made unit. Quality pretty good, but it was pretty heavy. I suppose that could also indicate a pretty good build, but at the same time, unnecessary weight is never good. The only marking on it is "yoyco" which as far as I could find out, is from a manufacturer in Seremban.

Cutting the exhaust outlet to be wider to accomodate the twin exhaust. You can see here that the new exhaust is quite a bit smaller than the old Ansa.

Forgot to take any close ups, but here's one from a far.

He got it mounted securely, doesn't bang against the body and it's straight and true.

I feel like the pipes are a bit bigger than I might like, but beggers can't be choosers. :D Noise is pretty nice, quite a bit louder than the Ansa. Hopefully it does not attract unwanted attention at roadblocks.

that's a good place really, they did a clean job with the exhaust system of my red E30.

Yeah, Ah Soon mentioned you. "red car, spent a lot of money, like new". Oh yeah, I think I know who you're talking about hahaha.

But yeah, clean job. :)

Alas, my rear clunking still persists. I think I'm gonna get my dad to drop it off at our mechanic one day and just have him take apart everything at the rear.

Nick ar.. Rear clunk could be differential or long shaft u-joint. Fren of mine replaced diff and it removed a significant amount of the clunking.

Alvin: Yes I thought of the diff as well since it matches the sound (a sorta big, heavy rumbly clunk). In fact, the boss at Optimum suggested that it could be either exhaust or diff after he drove my car. But finding and installing a diff won't be as trivial as an exhaust haha.

Iceman: Along Jalan SS3/29 is a row of shops. His place is the corner furthest away from the petrol stations.

Bro iceman..look for mamak darul ehsan, the shop is on the other end
