if u have space, u can try buying the protable/fodable canopy from tesco, giant or careffour, i think it cost around RM 1++. the space is enough to cover 1 car.

I don't think that a good idea. The structure a bit fragile. It can collapse with a "breeze" of wind especially this rainy season. Sayang man, the paintwork.

I have tried using the canopy in Kuching for my bikes, to hold it I place sand bags on all four pole. It is work well but sad thing is ..the canopy got stolen after a month of use. Hahaha Then replace with another and after two months again it got stolen. damm.

Kind of depends on your circumstances. Will 3rd car be driven frequently or only once a week or so? Are you parking it in your yard or a car park or on the street?

A car cover is an option if you're not using the 3rd car so often. Make sure to spend money to get a high quality breathable one custom fitted for your car. These types are expensive but much better than the cheap universal ones. They can be locked on to deter theft, and let water evaporate easily after rain.

If the car is to be left in the sun and rain everyday, it is best not to cover at all.

Reason I say this is because, from experience, trapped moisture will destroy your paint's topcoat anyway. Most of the time, moisture gets in not from the rain itself but through condensation. Breathable covers don't dry it off quickly enough in Msia's humidity, whereas waterproof covers will trap condensation completely. Then eventually, corrosion will set in too.

Another reason is that your car must be perfectly clean before putting the cover otherwise dirt, sand, birdshit etc will scratch your paintwork as the wrapped cover "drifts" around in the wind.

Just my 2 cents hope that helps...

Bro...Where to get this type ah?

What car are you thinking of covering? Depending on the car make, can get from dealer or order from overseas specialist supplier. Usually can find either with car covers specialist or parts suppliers. Just google something like "1997 Honda Accord car cover" or "BMW 325i breathable car cover" and you'll find plenty. Key is to make sure the cover is tailor made for your year/model of car, so it won't flap in the wind or anything. Expect to possibly spend up to 700-1000RM.

I will admit I haven't tried covering a car in M'sian weather, but overseas even during rainy seasons it worked very well for me, just made sure to keep the car waxed.

RM 700-1000??? (And you mean the car cover???)

I tot the car cover cost less or abt RM 100

If 700-1000, better get someone to fix extended roof

Can probably get cheap universal cover for 100rm, but will be nylon or something, can't lock on traps water and blows every which way in the wind. the one i was talking about is something like this one:

082NoahBMWCarCover.jpg

Washable, protective covering has 3-layer Noah™ fabric, overlapped seams, reinforced grommets with protective flap, and layered fabric to help prevent minor dings and dents.
Storage bag attached to cover.
Cable lock optional.
Noah™ is a registered trademark of Kimberly-Clark Corporation.
MSRP: $215.00 †

This price is from a dealer, can probably find cheaper elsewhere.

Agree that building permanent roof is the best, but wasn't really clear if that's an option for him.

Can get cheap ones from Brother's for around RM30 - RM50, depending on size. As these are PVC, it's only suitable for indoor use as the car is not exposed to heat.

Better quality ones are about RM100 at Brother's too (not sure what material, but they are a soft kind of synthetic cloth), these ones should be suitable for outdoor use.
