if i am going for oversea for a week plus, what should i do with my e36???? do i need to disconnect one of the terminals on the battery??? or anything like that???? or just leave it alone like that???thanks, willie

A week is no big deal. I've left cars for a month before. If your car is in good electrical condition (e.g. no short circuit, fresh batt). Just make sure you lock the car with your key and NOT via your alarm remote control. You dont want the alarm to arm as it will suck your batts. If you leave your car on the street in a tough neighbourhood then you're outta luck. (disclaimer - i wont be held responsible to your car or its contents).

edit:
ps - little known fact: your E36 has a DEAD LOCK when you use your key to lock the drivers door. This means you cant unlock or open all doors from the inside! Use with caution, you can lock someone inside and the only way out will be to smash your windows! :)

Oh, that what you can a DEAd lock. Mine will do that when you turn the key a bit further when the central locking is activated. Yes, even when you are inisde you cannot open the door.

For 1 week, it is quite safe to leave thing untouched provided you have a good battery. Just to be on the safe side, get a battery jumper wire should your battery is weak.

Left my E34 at KLIA carpark for one week end of last year. Started on the first crank when I came back :)

send it for service at AB? ;) they can take about a week to get it done, also the place is insured...hehhe

no problem.... I left my car for 2 weeks when I went to HK. Came back and it started fine. (mind you, my battery is more than 3 years old already)

One week is alright

Not a good idea to disconnect. The ECU gets resetted and your car will behave funny for a day or so. Personal experience from occasions where my batteried failed.

Bro send it to do up whatever u need, bodykit, any repairs, painting and etc. When u come back the car will be changed totally ... heheheh :D

i just discovered a problem that i scared most, my gear box stucked at 2nd gear for once just now, doesn't want to shift even at 5,000 rpm......

this is the second time in 2 months time, should i go and do a ATF flash??? or that is just a waste, i need an overhaultt????

p/s : i will get some jerky movement when i shift up or down through 2nd gear quite often, do u guys think that this is the end of my gear box???

Did the gearbox light come on?

if you have then you might have a trasmission problem or gearbox electronic shift problem.

For the gearbox problem, you can ask the shop to do a diagnotic check with a modic or GTII.

It will tell you the error code ot the fault with the gearbox. According to my mechanic, the ATF oil and filter should be changed every 80,000km.

Sometime, the problem with shifting could be due to faulty solenoid. There are 2 solenoid in the gearbox. The Modic can actually test the function of these solenoids.

if there are no error code, then your problem is due to worn out contact at the gear shift. Hopefully it is that problem coz that is the cheapest cost to repair.

One week no problem la. Sometime I leave my car for two weeks coz I use my Toyota most of the time. :D

A week plus should be okay !

I've experience left my car for more than 2 weeks, i've no problem at all.

The best thing would be, make sure you have good battery. ;)
