I need to have an oil change for my 1984 E23. Any suggestions? Should I go for mineral or semi synth? The M30 engine takes 6.5 liters and I hope to keep the cost down. Thanks guys!

M30- as a result of fine German technology... i'd go for full or semi synt...

but if u want to save, u can buy say 15W40 grade from Duckhams green oil... that's what i used on mine... some people would mix this with synt of the same grade... ha ha...

2 sen only... if wrong, correct kan lah...

Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking of going for mineral oil, but which one is good? Helix?
Does mineral oil have different grades also?

Duckhams 15W40 is maybe mineral (or they call it green oil). I normally bought it at RM38 per 4 liter... you can get it at some kedai spare part biasa, but not all...

M30, in my opinion, is more suitable with 15W40 than 20W50, as it is always running steady at 1/2 temperature... (that is if u are going with mineral)... i have tried mineral 20W50 on my M30, it feel a bit rough... you could

i'll go for helix... alittle bit expensive but u can feel the impact

Thanks, is Helix more expensive? What do you mean you can feel the impact?
Currently is there any offer or free gift with any of the mentioned oils?

Hey Doc..

I've been using Esso Superflo 15W50 ever since the engine was rebuilt and religiously stick to a 3,000 mile/5,000 km interval.

Cheers..

Doc,

I use Q8 oil... but seems difficult to find in PG w/o northern disti.

Q8 url.

Beware of recycled/fake oil especially the Castrol Magnatec... no easy way to tell so it depends on the shops that you go to.

Ok just went to Shell and Caltex

Shell Helix Mineral oil 15w40 $53 per 4 L 1 free red sligbag

Caltex Halvoline Mineral Oil 14w40 $55 per 4L nothing free

Where can I get the Castrol GTX 15-40 at RM38?
