17" with 215/45 or 225/45 tyres will be the most suitable for M43 1.9cc Engine

if you want to scare the other bigger CC BMW's then use bigger wheels ... but usually 17 is about right ... not much of savings compared to the small wheels ...it's more of how your driving habits are ..

Want to save on tyre costs and lower FC then can go for 17" lah. Per donut starts from 300-350. If 18" then wallet sakit abit, about 450-500 per donut minimum. plus, FC suffer somemore, but gain on styling lah. Handling-wise IMO 17" is good enough for daily driving. So it's more of being practical or styling. :D

Wan e46, just want to share some of my experince with u:
Initially my ride was on 18" with front 225/40/18 n rear 255/35/18 RFT tyres, fuel consumption in KL city drive was crazy high at 12.7 L/100km. Stock BMW Style 72 wheels and very bumpy feel.
Then adhere my trustworthy guru Mr. Yau advice, I DOWNGRADE it to 17" with front 225/45/17 n rear 245/45/17 Non-RFT tyres, fuel consumption in KL city drive instantly drop to 12.4 L/100km. Stock BMW Style 68 wheels and drive was much more comfort.
Recently I changed wheels again to ori German BBS RX wheels, using back the initial 17" with front 225/45/17 n rear 245/45/17 Non-RFT tyres, fuel consumption in KL city drive instantly drop to 12.1 - 11.9 L/100km and guess wht? Road handling even better!!!

Most probably due to lower weight of the BBS RX... Lower rotational weight = less power needed to turn the wheel hence lower fuel consumption.

hahha..beware bro..bahaya woo underage ni..kihkihkih

nanti boleh dapat ///M sbb kene rotan..huhu
