Wet carpet on front passenger seat

Hi everyone! Anyone ever experiencing wet carpet on front passenger side carpet on the foot well area?My 13yr old 34 develops this problem recently and i dont know the reason why.Looking thru the front grill did not reveal any sign of leaking hole.Attempts on lifting the floor carpet was unsuccessful because finding the carpet was rather thick and hard ,afraid it might break.It could be from the aircond,not to sure.Response greatly appreciated,thanks.:top:

1. Check your aircond pipe, make sure all attached properly

2. Drainage? Try check if it fit well, am not sure what people call...

I had a similar problem with my e34 a few months back. managed to solve it. On my car water was leaking from the top at the area behind the dashboard. From the outside, you open the hood and at the area below the left wiper blade there is a plastic grille. If you look between the grille you will see some wires going into the body. This location is actually behind your dashboard. The rubber grommet for the wire was leaking water into the car. Make sure your grommet has not come loose or torn.

my fren also kena before.. dunno why.. not aircond not windscreen not doors... but when he show me a pic of his passenger.. then i understood why

Had the same wet driver carpet last week.
It's when the air cond line is choked.
The foreman shot air in the line and all is well.
To conform if the air cond line is cleared, after switching off the engine with the air cond running , water should drip out from it's two drains below the car.

I am not sure about the E34 but on the E36 if u look from the bottom , there is a drain plug that sometimes goes missing inexplicably. It's somewhere around the jack position area ... and that makes water seep in from below when u go thru puddles watnot..

thanks guys,sorry took along time,busy lately,Blackhowling...very notty.will chk on the aircon drain pipe.
have strong feeling its not rain water bcoz carpet always wet/damp even though not been drvg thru rain or
park outside.Vixx...,i did introduced meself already sometime back.thanks

Is your heater hose leaking? Does the car lose coolant? Might want to get that checked also.

Check your acond condensation outlet hose area. Quite likely the culprit. Last time while I was working on the complete engine conversion of the Red E34 from M20 to M50 I noticed that this area is the weak point. Don't be surprised to see rust and a big hole there.

You practically need to remove most of the carpet to get to the area.

My analysis on how this could happen is actually via the transmission tunnel under the car. BMW are known for good sound proofing. If you hoist up the car you will see the aluminium proctection plate running across the transmission and prop shaft tunnel. On top of this aluminium protection plate lies a layer of sound proofing material. When your car go over water puddle water is splashed over this area and it stays wet/damp for a long time thus resulting in rusting this area. When it gets bad enough water will seep through and onto the carpet.

Thanks Nazrie,Seech & Vincent,i doubt its coming from under the car bcoz the weather been fine lately,i will look for any sign
of leakage on the said area just in case.Maybe i will give Naidu a visit on this,its time also for me to meet him to see ho good he is.You guys have any experience of sending your car to him??..Comment please...

so air blh masuk dan carpet jadi basah n susah kering...

Last time sy pun kena macam tu juga habis depan belakang basah .
air masuk dari ecu punya fan belakang dashboard cuba check .

Seech,you're right!it leaked from one of the heater tube under dash board.problem fix by plugging both the inlet n outlet heater hoses,so now no more water flowing tru heater.Heater water pump elect plug disconnected to stop it from running.Had it done at BM auto jln Ipoh.
