E39 Solving Rattles and Creaks in front passenger seats

I've had my 520i 2.2 for 2 months now and hv to say that I am completely satisfied with the car despite some small issues, like the crappy headlights which point to the floor, the "senget sebelah" stance when parked, heavy steering feel, and groaning air conditioning sounds. These are all issues which I can live with.However, what drives me nuts is the rattle from the front passenger seats (non-electric), which sounds like the seat is loose against the seat rails, especially when u drive over sharp bumps or high frequency bump strips. However, when there's a passenger on the seat, the sound's gone. My mech said its common on the E39's and just got to live with it. He tried tightening the nuts that hold the rails to the floor but that' hasnt worked. Has anyone managed to resolve this problem with the seats? appreciate if you could kindly share some notes. bro it might be the backbone of the seats.. ? the springs which give u firm support when u sit..

Sound confirm not from the backbone..it somewhere near the door..:stupid:

maybe the door assembly ? must remove and check all those metal locking device. some should have rubber washers. if not it vibrates and rattles too

it's actually due to the plastic at the side of the seats.....check to see if there are cracks...also the medical kit compartment under the passenger seat, sound also come from that....

Gentlemen,

These seats have plastic bushings used in the height adjustment mechanism. They have worn out through the years and require replacement.

Please have them checked.

or alternatively want to save some dollars ajust your seat properly..it helps....lolz funny but it does
