wat colour ur auto transdission fluid

hi all. may i knw wat colour is ur transmission fluid in ur gear box? me gonna change my auto transmission fluid. went to mech, he said must change to yellow colour BMW auto transmission fluid. went to spare part shop the boss said if ur car with +/- gear shift must use white(something like transparent)colour! now my auto transmission fluid is red colour, known that is used in normal auto transmission,is that true? pls reply all sifu-sifu n guru-guru. thanks and regards

original BMW auto trans. fluid color is red..., bloody red. if i can remember correctly, it was Dexron II.

the red or white does not matter..

on the GM box is the colour red from bmw fluid Dextron III sync and all ZF 4hp also can be used. for certain ZF models 5hp18 black label uses the BMW type. but for the 5hp19 uses the esso LT fluid which is white in colour..

do a search in the forum, this has been discussed before to 8 pages.

I also want to change my ATF Oil this month end..need some advise from sifus2 here..I try to look for BMW ATF Oil in my area here but can't get one..every shops says that they need to order the oil first..and it takes 1-2 weeks to arrive..
Can other brands of ATF Oil can be use for BMW cars? If can, what brand is recommended? Really need help from sifu2 here..thanks
