Hi sifus,I need advice here. Thinking of upgrading my woofer to get some more bass. What are the best location/installation of woofer in the trunk? is it free air, enclose ... and where should it be located? Now i'm bridging it from Alphine MRV-F345 to 8" enclosed woofer. The front component also powered by this amp. The rear comp drive directly by the HU (Kenwood) @ 40w RMSThinking to add these; Alphine MRD-M1005 - 500w x 1RMS and RF Punch.Comments are very much appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Hi Strider,

That's a pretty powerful amp you've got there : approx. 500W x 1 @ 4 ohms and 700W x 1 @ 2 ohms - all rated at 12V I think ). Assuming that you're going with an enclosure, I'd say that a rigid ported enclosure would go well with the RF Punch subbie. The Punch series can be mounted in a sealed or ported enclosure but the latter seems to suit it better IMO. Anway, recommended enclosure size should be available online or on the product manual that comes with the sub.

Location wise, you could either put the box in the right corner of your boot or in some cases, people will build their sub enclosure along the boot line - on an E36 for example, it wud be in the front left cavity opposite the battery location as some of the guys here have. Anyway, placement is very much a personal thing so I'd say experiment with it till you find your own sweet spot.

Cheers,
VaN.

Thanks Van,

but do you have other suggestion/alternative on the woofer and it "suitable" amp?

Strider,

I wud stick with the amp ... assuming that you're getting it for a good price or already have. But I'd definitely look at some other subbies as well before going with the RFs. Not sure what price you're being quoted for the RF sub but for less than RM 1K look at Image Dynamics ID or IDQ, JL Audio W3, Alpine's own Type R and Type X if you can stretch the budget a bit, Helix Deep Blue, PHD, Peerless XLS and Hertz HS if you can find one. Neway ... the choice is yours cos I'm sure you're working with a budget in mind.

Cheers,
VaN.

Yes Van. Definitely i have some figure in my mind. But i want some comfort level. Your advice are very much appreciated. Some of the brand you mention are in my list of option. I just don't want to be regreted later by making decision without seeking other advice. I did read everything in this ICE section and some from other forums cause i don't have any knowledge about ICE.

Anyway, thanks again.

P.s. do have any installer that you can recommend to me around PJ. :)
