okay...just before raya i went to this ever famous tyre shop located in sunway and got myself 2 pieces of Yokohama advan S series (265-30-19). it suppose to one of the best tyre in the market despite its skyrocket price...i got them to install those tyres around 6 pm and immediately went home after that. the next morning, upon admiring my new set of tyres, i noticed that one of the rear tyre actually had a small 'cut' on the sidewall. i immediately went to the tyre shop and complained. i was confronted by the ever famous supervisor and he immediately called a technical engineer from YHI malaysia. The malay chap came after 1 hour, and upon instpection, he mentioned to me that the damage was due to wear. my jaw dropped, my temperature raised, but managed to control my anger, and i summoned him to write me a report and officially bring up the matter to his technical manager. he promised to call me in the afternoon, which of course he never did. i called him 5 times the next day before he finally picked up my call. he told me to wait until next week since his technical manager was in penang.okay..after 1 week lapsed, i called him and was told that YHI malaysia refuse to take the responsibility that the tyre torn was due to manufacturing defect not wear and tear.i went back to this tyre shop and nobody entertained me.i was very frustrated. i paid a handsome rm1200 per piece for the yokohama tyre and this is what i got.just today, i filed up my complaint against the company with Tribunal Tuntutan Pengguna. Its actually very simple. u can just download the form online, filled up 4 copies of Borang 1, then go to 16th Floor, The Mall. Dont forget to photocopy the receipt as well. Paid 5 bucks, and those officers will give u a receipt and fix a courtdate. You are then to serve the notice to the 'accused' company via 2 ways:- by hand or registered mail. After my meeting today, i went to the tyre shop and gave them the letter. Immediately i was treated super nice by the boss and supervisor. and almost immediately they told me to come back tomorrow and they will give me a brand spanking new tyre to resolve the matter 'out of court'.so, ladies and gentlemen, lesson learnt, always keep your receipt, and know your rights as a consumer. before you something, makesure you check any item throughlly before you leave the premise. and makesure that the company that you are buying the items from are legitimate. and insist on official receipt for any payments that you made.very very happy today,kl_mafia

Very useful information. Not many people know about the tribunal and consumer rights.

Anyway, its good to hear that you got your tyres replaced.

Cheers
Chief

I know someone who bought an X5 from a VERY famous dealer ..

Gearbox and engine kaput within days. He claimed for warranty - never got it.
So, TRIBUNAL court .. and he won. I think he got 25K ..

Yes, consumer has rights too.

Thats what the consumers need...knowledge of their rights, or face being fleeced...since consumer protection here is zilch! Good stuff!

kl-mafia.. congrats on getting your tyres replaced..

i oso had a problem with the said shop.. as there wasn't any tyres of my choice at the time, they suggested me a 'non-n rated' bridgestone tyres for my boss's car saying those tyres wud work well, as the f430s have them as factory spec..

my boss had the tyres for one week.. not until i drive the car that i notice the psm/dsc kicks-in on hard corners ie sliding around.. crazy..

went back to the shop, called bridgestone.. got full refund on the spot.. lucky they didnt give me a hard time as we had even driven on the tyres all the way to terengganu..! maybe the shop/local yoko office was trying to pull a fast one on ya..

its great that u show them not all people are stupid.. :D

p/s: hows the tyres? comfort? noise? traction? wet?

I am worried about being put into such a situation too so I always check the tyres upon delivery & after installation with my customers.

A word of advice: Always buy from reputable brand appointed shop. They sell legitimate products with full backup from the brand company.

gentlemen, i just got back from the tyre shop. when i arrived there, the supervisor directed one of his so called the best tyre fitter to work on my car. they were being extra careful and even consulted me on what pressure that i want for the tyres. before i left the shop, i was made to put my signature on a letter saying that i will not make further claim and bring them to court. i agreed and sign the letter.

furthermore, they even filled in nitrogen for all my tyres FOC.

adliz, the yokohama advan is good. it is quiet and wet condition performance is not bad too. but, you cant really use my testimonial on this tyre as my car is heavily underpowered. not like yours... :)

thanks guys.

whu dont we just state the shop name and avoid from that shop.who knows...the next victim is ourselves

the tyre shop got scared already... and to avoid the trouble of going to court, they agreed to settle with Mafia. But if I am Mafia I would only settled for more n not just change to a new tyre... for pain n suffering suffered ma...

The tribunal online systems been develop by the company i'm working with.
If in the court session, you cant get more then what you pay. You only get the replacement. Unless the product is fake then only u'll get back ur money.

If you intend to summon and get more then what u paid, go for sivil court.

This tribunal tuntutan pengguna is to manage any claims agains the seller and to ensure u get what u buy or else u get back ur money.

Yeah, tell us la, it is for the benefit of the forumer.

Hey Mafia,

Why not u get from the forumers 10 bucks each and u tell them the shop name. I think with that amount of money.... u can even get the new Bridgestone Potenza III already. ha ha ha.... :)

So out of curiosity, who bear the losses? YHI or the tyre shop? If the installer damage the tyre during fitting, the tyre shop shall be responsible but if its manufacturer defect, then YHI can claim their principal in S'pore la. To me, it looks like the tyre shop damage it because manufacturer QC where got so che-kai wan. They already know it but try to deny a little and push the responsibility to the importer. Of course no luck lor.

Still I think kl_mafia will give this shop returning business.. am I right?! Good tactic to retain customer huh.. :D And u know the shop people well, the shop people know u well and give u extra attention everytime u there. Syok juga ya.. :D

Moral of the story, "Don't play play with people on 19", horse power ada ka tidak, lain cerita.. " :D
