tyre continued usage post repair kit treatment

In a case when a puncture happens and the tyre repair kit is being used (with the liquid stuff being pumped into the tyre to temporary plug the hole) to allow us to drive to the nearest tyre shop, can the said tyre still be used after repair? What happens to the liquid stuff that was pumped into the tyre earlier...wouldn't it have hardened and form a layer in the inner wall of the tyre? If that is the case, then this particular tyre will be heavier than the other three and would presumably affect the balance of the car.

Pump all 4 tyres la.. That's what Passat did... Factory pumped.. and they call it self healing tyres..
