depends on the way you drive, road conditions and some what luck, especially if u get those once in a lfetime terminal goods that has defect
the rod has 2 type of freeplay
1. ball joint
2. inner joint
usually one of it will give way first, either or, it still needs replacement
you will find that ur alignment will be out of wack after a few weeks of alignment - signs of wear n tear
vibrations, even very little can cause accelerated wear n tear of the rods
another misunderstood signs that the tie rods are going is actually the steering assembly that has internal freeplay
my advise is got get independant evaluation, some people will go with the flow, so don't say anything, just ask to check if ok or not, and see how they check.......
