Hello Sifus.

Recent History,
- Ran over flood. The rest were history. Replaced a whole engine of M54B22 (chopshop)
- After engine replacement, RPM kept fluctuating. Suspected MAF. Switched a working MAF from another car. No difference.
Replaced Throttle Body (chopshop). Better now but still RPM fluctuats on n off.
Mech said Throttle body will take time to get used to the engine. 3 weeks now, RPM is still unstable.
- Less than a month after engine replacement.. 1 fine day, Engine shutdown automatically while warming up. Couldn't start up after that. Crank is absolutely normal. Towed to workshop, diagnostic tool couldn't communicate with ECU. Suspected ECU failure.
- Replaced ECU (some ECU specialist managed to break the immobilizer and re-code it..as per my Mech).
- Car was fine when collected. but seemed everything is way far from over............................................

Current Issue,
The next day after the ECU replacement, the Golden Triangle appeared.
Below are the 3 Error Codes as per X431 LAUNCH diagnostic tool;
i) 76 - Plausibility, signal 1,engine throttle to air-mass flow sensor
ii) 5E14 - CAN connection t DME/DDE (DSC lamp on until ignition reset)
iii) 5E19 - CAN data fault from DME/DDE (DSC lamp on as long as error is present)

Now, my mechanic is saying its some ECU related wiring problem.
Can someone shed some light please?

Honestly, I'm tired visiting the workshop day in day out.
My boss is tired too listening to my same lame excuse to go back early.
The $ i spent on this car for repair jobs alone to-date is already nearing the value of the car itself that i bought 3 years ago.
Yet, i havent give up. too passionately in love with this car.
I badly want him to be back on feet as healthy as before.
 
bro...if all this happened after the engine change,then you will have to go back to the shop and have all this sorted.
the shop shud honor what they have done and not let a customer drive away with a car still faulty after all that has been done.

not much any of us cud advise from here as we do not know how the engine transplant went and whether the replacement engine is in good nick to begin with.

Errr...I'm afraid I'd like to skip that question bro KW930..Never wana spoil someone's rice bowl / reputation.
​Honestly, the mech im visiting, he's a very nice chap and a very reliable guy.
I'd still recommend him to our fellow Bimmer owners.
Probably one of the modest mech of all the mech's I've visited so far. His quotations are often reasonable too.
Just that I'm goin thru some bad time i suppose.

Bro Moots, agree with you. But too bad for me, the car will be error-free when i drive it away from the workshop.
I'm convinced that my mech is trying to do the best for me.
There were plenty of times he did free troubleshooting and free minor repairs.
We have a good relationship.

Anyway, back to the main topic.
I think I've managed to solve the problem guys
I visited a wiring Sifu yesterday, Man Car Electrical Service in USJ 1. Tauke Ah Man.(of course, recommended by my mech).
While on the way to his workshop, the Golden Triangle disappeared.
Explained to him about the error and also the RPM fluctuation just in case if its related.
He immediately pointed out DISA valve for his boys to inspect for any vacuum leak. He suspected the "butterfly" like flap inside the DISA valve is broken.
But no damage were found. Serviced DISA valve. Still, RPM fluctuation was there.
Diagnostic tool triggered 3 new error codes;
i) Error 135 - TPS Starting test readaptation was triggered.
ii) Error 160 - Engine throttle position controller jammed briefly
iii) Error 161 - Engine throttle position controller jammed permanently.

Tried doing RCA.
Encountered a weird behaviour. RPM eventually stabilized with air-cond on. but it started fluctuating when the air-cond is turned off.

Finally, MAF, DISA Valve and ICV (Idle Control Valve) were all unmounted and serviced.
No errors were triggered and RPM is stable since then.
Total 2.5 labor hours were spent during the workshop's peak hours by Ah Man's boy.
For some reasons, Ah Man didn't bill me. It was done for free folks.
I'm a happy man now. Cheers all.
 
is good to hear that your car is back to normal. driving BMW you need to have passion especially the car over 10 years old.

For the past 6 years of my ownership of my E39 i also spent quite a number of money. the most headache part is when the golden triangle pop up and also current leakage of the vehicle. my current leakage i used almost 4 years to get it trouble free.
 
would you able to share where is man car electrical and telephone number?

the current leakage come 1 by 1. 1 fixed then another 1 come in. 1st will be the aircond blower Final stage control unit causes the car not go into "sleep mode" then later the aircond automatic control unit did not cut off the current hence also not go into "sleep mode". where some workshop could not detact this kind of faulty.

whowwwwww...i didnt know these can contribute to current leakage..i wonder how u got this issue diagnosed..? that mechanic must be good at what he does..mind telling which workshop u got this sorted out?

hi bro, there is no workshop are able to diagnosed and most workshop i sent they all said no problem. hence i call up bro JARANCE and he teach me how to diagnosed it by using multimeter to DIY yourself to find out where is the fault come from.
