Hmm, not sure whether older models with their keys can still qualify.

Yes Eggie, I think u right.. Key fob supposed to mean key holder. For the newer generation BMWs, we use key holder to start our car, a special key holder that has an embedded chips and key for emergency door opening.. and it sounds foolish if we ask our wife, "Dear, did you bring your key holder out? We taking the BMW out tonight.." so those car engineer thought of a better name to call the key holder, and that's how FOB started.. the end. :4:

Now that's a legitimate FOB, by definition, its just a "key holder", not necessary can start an engine.. :4:
