Hi all, I need your opinion. First of all, I was being offered, Style 122 Used Rims + 4 brand new Pilot Preceda 2, 245/45/R17 Total : RM3000 (122 Rim) + (4 X RM900=RM3600) = RM6600...... Is it worth the price? I am initially looking around for M-Sport Rim of 18" but till now still cant find any..... Anyone wanna let go? And i was told that Pilot Preceda 2, 245/45/18 is same price is 245/45/17 - at RM900 per pc. Secondly, My current ride is E60, 520i. Current tire is Stle 115 with 225/55R-16 If i change to a 245/45/R17 OR 245/45/R18... will the ride be more bumpy and will the car need more power to be driven? I worried if i uses a wider and bigger tire, my 520i might lose power..... Please adviceThanksJack

wonder to know why yur 17" expensive then 18" ?
i bought in KL area, PP2 235/40/18 in between 8XX+/- ..

p/s: i feel slightly high the offer yur get ..

Thanks bro.

That was exactly how i felt but what i was told is that, 17" is not in demand and thus making the price similar to the 18" which is more sellable.... Make sense when one product sells more, price normally goes down a bit.....

But u have any idea, on my E60, 520i, is it advisable to use a 245/45/R17? i worried the power required to pull the car.... :*

Jack

I am still looking for M-Sport Rim, anyone have any idea where i can get that ? And to the bro who msg me on your 122/138... u can show me the pic when u get your car ok? my choice is in between that or MSport.

Thanks

Jack,
Upgrading the size of tyres and rims will have a direct effect on the overall handling & performance of the car. You will feel bumpier ride and higher road feedback running with thinner side walls (17" rims/45 series or 18"/40 series) especially crossing over those horizontal-yellow-lines when approaching the toll gates. You will not be able to crash-over the road humps like you are use to in your present 55 series tyres!
The weight & wider tyres will also affect the performance. Maybe, you will get use to it after awhile.

Thanks Jerman, Thank Rayvin,

The bump is anticipated but i am more worries about the overall performance of the car in terms of power because mine is ultimately just a 520i.... hmm maybe i should just forget about upgrading the rims :(

:listen: .. like what Jerman says ...you will get used to it over time. However, if you really want to know of your car performance relative to bigger rims and tyres,YES, you will feel a bit "heavier" (but not too significant) on short sprints and much better handling and feel during longer ride ...

Currently I am on an E60 myself, using a 19" 245 for the front and 19" 275 for the rear and being on the road (long distance driving) most of the time, it feels good and secure with those sizes ....:rock:

jackpc, if the power remains the same when you hv added bigger rims, the initial roll i.e. pick-up will be sluggish for sure...

this can to a certain extent be 'compensated' with ultra light rims such as very very expensive rims like mag alloy ones...

also, bigger rims and tyres mean a bit scary when the roads are really wet...

thanks peter and dzulljazz !!!

i understand already and hehehh will see what i need to do on this !!! most probably will go with 18" ;)

:listen: sure is my friend, it is scary ...but then again, its not the tyre that is the main factor of "incident/accident" on wet roads. Its the speed one is travelling that will determine whether you slide, side-winding, "drift" or just simply "aqua-flying"...on any size tyre, exceeding 80km/h is enough to skid, slide and AP your car ...

thumb rule ...drive within the limits (preferably < = 80km/h) of ones control in the wet, period ...:top::top:

Hi Jack, saw a set of m-sport 18" in klang. I believe the shop is call Chin Hin, though I may be wrong with the name. Anyway it is the shop next to the traffic light on the way to north port.

They sell original as well as replicas.
