I'm getting quite number of parts for repairs.I went to Auto Bavaria and Stuttgart. Both of them have part prices for that has got vast difference in pricing!Stuttgart is much cheaper, in fact very much cheaper. Why is it so? Are the parts in Stuttgart originals??So now I'm confused don't know who to buy from.

they both mostly supply oem parts and it all depends which one ur comfortable with as they both r quite reputable in the bmw frat!

y dont u search for the e36 section in the forum and ask the sifus?

all the best,

hi tyke,

thanks :) I did try to do a search in the forum but no avail on the info I needed.

Forgive my ignorance but what is OEM parts? Are they originals?

For example I asked for the starter motor...Auto Bavaria quoted me RM1,150 and Stuttgart RM780.00. That's a lot of difference! For all the parts that I've asked, all of them has got a vast difference.

no worries dude.
OEM is original equipment manufacturer.

which means tht they were the co tht supplied the parts to bmw etc....thus the reason y they can sell it at a lower price.

bear in mind tht u have oem parts from germany, france and also sweden made for bmw's.

price wise between AB and stuttgart,no idea why the big price difference.

tell u wht,try and pm mrhartge or jeffreyewe, they will be better in answering u.

all the best dude.

do come join us for tt 2mrw and meet other sifus.
i can be reached at maxis two five zero four two eight eight if ur interested in coming for the friday tt.
its held at SHOWRU CAFE,behind the MAS training centre in kelana jaya.

Thanks again tyke.

As you've mentioned, the parts come from many countries, so does that mean the quality of is different from each country hence the price fluctuation?

I just want to confirm this before I go ahead to get the part because I'm very sure about Auto Bavaria not having any immitation parts since they are the BMW Malaysia right? I'm kind of confused right now since the price difference is so much and worried that I might be getting inferior parts from Stuttgart. But if they are the same as from Auto Bavaria, than of course I will get them from Stuttgart, I just got a quote from Auto Bavaria and it came up to RM7,000+ :(

I'll try to come to the meetup session but I'm out of transportation right now, my car is grounded. The engine overheated and the top head is toast :(

Hey,

I believe if you go to any BM Specialist workshops, they will replace the spare parts from either Stutgart or Bavarian Auto (which you left out). These are the main suppliers of BMW spare-parts in town, and quite reputable too.

Since the day I bought my ride, I have been using the parts purchase from Bavarian Auto. So far, I have not encounter any problems. The parts are OEM. Personally, I believe there's no point getting from Auto Bavaria, because of the expensive price they quoted us.

If I would have buy the parts from Auto Bavaria to repair my cars, I believe I could have bought a used perodua kancil... :D

never been to Stuttgart b4,but Bavarian Auto..yes..price is reasonable.
As Oris318 said,no need to go to AB..maybe if u want to buy new car there!
for parts...can get s'where else laaa, and I think,Bavarian Auto is the most popular...even all the mechanics here in Ipoh get their parts from there.

Good Mornning.... What a pleasant friday... Gllooommyyy feel like sleeping :lazy:

Just to add on, try Bavarian Auto... (the mechanic... he used to be from AB too) & he knows inside out of BMW.. though its much smaller than Sgt or AB, but hes kind of guy who will advise and what to be fix.. go and get his quote 1st, then consider.

Oem parts are good enough... no need sooo ori. it works the same.

There's another one near Bavarian Jln Ipoh... oso sells BM's part..
(Munich Aoto)? any comments ?

I was looking for a trim and the various places sell only original part, and the prices that I found is as follows:

1. Motosport division = RM280
2. Eurocar = RM250
3. Auto Bavaria = RM144.50

Go figure it.

Yes, the prices for parts offered by Sttutgart are hard to beat, but I've had bad experiences with their workshop. In the aspects of quality of work done and pricing. So, be aware.

Stuggart is big... big means no priority to cust. (generally speaking)..
in addition , they have the power on their hands when comes charges $..

Ok, thanks for all your tips :)

Ok, so now I get it, don't do the work there but ok to buy the parts from there right guys?

If u're comparing price between AB and Stuttgart, of cos Stuttgart is cheaper for most of the parts. AB sells only ORIGINAL BMW parts.

OEM parts dealers like Bavarian Auto(not the Kayu Ara Workshop), First Division, Bomin, Stuttgart sells mainly OEM parts. If u say Stuttgart is cheap, u might probably find the other parts dealer even cheaper.

However, not all the parts sold by AB is expensive. Little things like clips may be cheaper there.

Dude!

AB is costly, but all products are from Germany, where else you can find original BM parts from other supplier for cheaper price, but they could be made in South Africa or so. Anyway, my workshop in Segambut (Zender) will have a list of suppliers to source the best price for new and old parts.

Here are their numbers : XXXXXXX

Cheers,
Teekay
