I'm looking specifically at Goodyear F1 GSD3 (Germany) in 225/40/18 size all round.

(I'm open to other similar alternatives as well).

Thanks in advance.
You might want to consider the Pirelli Dragon (a made for asia P7000 replacement). 235/45/17' can be bought around S$ 189 per piece. But I would expect the price to have gone up slightly due to the increase in oil prices.

singapore parts are cheaper there right? no duty?
Buying parts in SG has no tax...most shops will charge you the GST (good and services tax....we joke it as the Goh Say Tax [Goh is the ex PM of Fine City Singapore])

That is for new stuff.

If you are getting stuff from the local scrap yards or used from dealers etc...normally they will work the sales price with the tax worked in as opposed to charging you as a seperate item.

But it would be advisable for you to install the items in SG before going back.....some parts are taxable by the MY kastam.

I will be going to down to Spore soon. Just want to confirm whether tyres (esp the imported ones) are cheaper in SG? like CSC 2 or Pirelli P7? Anyone knows where to go?

Lastly, how to make sure no problems with Kastams...

You buy Conti I confirm most likely you get chop carrothead !! The tyre is brought in by Stamford Tyres. Not cheap....for the price you pay....hell lots of other choices for you to chose from.

For Pirellis look around....Autoacc at Paya Lebar may have a lot of choices...but they are not the cheapest around.

For fair priced one...looks around for Sin Kit....Yap Brothers...South East Tyre etc. You can always find out the prices before you pop over.

Try using the yellow pages to hunt.

Thumb of rule is that....the smaller the shop...sometime the price is better as you can bargain....bigger establisment cannot argue too much.

BTW...how to avoid kastam trouble...one way is to tell the shop not to apply the tyre shine for you.....just ask them to wash the tyre with water instead. My MY friend sometime just spray some dirty water on the tyres to make them look seasoned.

100% agree with Ghostrider-SG. My dad changed his e46 318i valvetronic tyres to CONTI SPORT CONTACT 2(225/50 R16) for around $240-250 per tyre). The price he got was lower than what Stamford Tyre quoted for him.

I don't agree on spraying dirty water..it only attracts attention.. I would chose to cabut(exit) s'pore via the 2nd link the earliest(i.e 6am) as there are hardly any officer around! "ve done that plenty of time.. Good luck.

Toffee, nothing for my car so far, just some other gadgets...and I alwayz prefer to escape in the early hours, less traffic, less officer(close to none..), less hassle! And ohh..not to mention i pay one day less for that u-know-what fees...

Guys,
What about ICE? Anyone knows where to get reasonably priced ICE system in SG... thks!
Again...avoid all the big shops like Autobacc...Stamford etc. They ain't cheap.

For normal ICE, go for those establised dealers like

Hock Hin, Pin Liang or Mova etc. These shops have volume and they do plenty of cars everyday...simple stuff like a change of Headunit and changer....their price is usually better.

If you know how to DIY, Sim Lim Sq Edison is also a good place to shop. They dun do installation.

High end stuff...approach people like Dynasty Audio, New Generation, Hong Guan....etc these guys have been around for ages and they can do a mean customised job. They belong to the upper tier of installer in Singapore.

Ghostrider-SG,

Can you recommend a shop in Singapore that sells Bilstein shock absorber inserts ?. I am looking for front pair, part number P36-3022 the front inserts for E34 with 22mm nut and 2.5 inch dustcap. Anyone know the prices for a pair ?.

I got some friends going there and might get them to shop for me.

Thx.
