Choose the Yokohama V 103. Cheaper too.

Its time to change my tyres too.

I have seeked advice from friends of this club.. and now i am totally confused, altho i am leaning towards the PS2. But today another senior member told me to go for PP2 as PS2 is an overkill on my e34.

Yoko Advan Sports has been recommended, so has PS2 and PP2.. geeesss.. with my kinda driving 80% alone, 20% with front passenger, and top speed of 150 to 210 occasionally, either on our club drives or personal drives.. what should i be looking for?

I know there have been many threads open for discussion on this topic, guess it all comes to personal preferences and driving styles.

what do i want you may ask? I want comfort, less noise and better grip in dry and wet conditions. or am i asking far too much?

Thanking all my fellow member in advance..

cheers mates

...dei anything in the range of RM600 above a tyre from a reputable Brand should suffice for your kind of driving....but noise level you have to R&D abitlah..for me sound like tractor also nevermind wan...drowns out the nagging by passenger to slow down, drive slowly, bla bla bla.....hhahaha

haha! But how lah? Yoko advan sports? PP seems noise as elvis tay pointed out... grrr... now... PS 2 .. hmm.. looks like i have to settle for this one.. but not ez to get obtain.

helllppppp.......

Try Speedline tyre shop in Dataran Sunway Damansara (near Kota Dsra) shoplots. They help me hunt down my PS2's when other shops were out of stock and the price was reasonable. You wont go wrong with the PS2s :)

ok will do that. If you hv their number will be even better.. at least i can call them and ask them to get it for me .

thanks buddy

I don't have their number handy. A few things to note about Speedline. They are great when it comes to sourcing for higher end tyres and sizes at a good price (compared to other shops I went to). However, they seemed to struggle with the mounting of my PS2's when I was watching and I was surprised at the amount of weights needed to balance the wheels compared to the outgoing pair of wheel weights I had with the Toyo T1R's. After that, at about 120-140km/h I got a slight vibration on the steering a symptom of bad balancing I thought.

Brought my car to Lim Tayar in TDDI and asked them to rebalance all 4 tyres (bought my previous E46 PS2's and Jazz PP2's from them and they did a good job), and when they put the wheel on the balancer, they noticed that the tyres were "jumping". The guys told me it wasn't a problem with the balancing but a problem with the mounting I had on 3 of the 4 tyres and they remounted the tyre on the wheel and showed me the difference and the "bounce" of the tyre on the balancer was gone after they re-did it. Also much less weights needed to balance the tyre. There are techniques to mount the tyre on the wheel and although it may appear balanced, if the tyre is "bouncing" on the balancer, you'll get vibrations. After paying them Rm75 for the detailed balancing job, the car is smooth and silky all the way to 150km/h as I tested today. I suspect that its the mounting machine used as well, cos it looked so much easier for the Lim Tayar guys mounting the tyres than the struggles I saw going on at Speedline. Also the wheel weights look so much prettier from Lim Tayar (much less needed as well) compared to the type Speedline used lol.

E46Fanatic>>> Bro, thanks fr the tip. Got my PS2 installed for my back two tyres at Kee Hin Tyre shop along Old Klang Road after our AGM in time for our Kuala Selangor drive. Those guys were pretty good at what they do and the boss took me for a test drive after fixing the tyres!!

I am loving the ride now!!

Once again, appreciate your advice.

The downside is once you go with PS2's its gonna be hard to choose a cheaper alternative when the next change comes around heh. Its a curse lol.

Mind sharing how much you got each tyre for? Also I noticed with this set of PS2's I have its Made in Brazil and its printed on the inside sidewalls now! My previous set on my E46 was Made in France which was proudly printed on the outer sidewall. Did you notice the country of manufacture of your PS2's?

Cost me RM930 per piece (235x45x17) , yup, made in Brasil too. Yeah, from now on, tyre change is gonna be an expensive one, just keeping my fingers crossed that I dont get a major blowout like the one that happened to my Falken Adzenis before! ( my front two is still on Falken Adzenis (225x45x17) )

How is it Don Franco?

Is the Michelin PS 2 better or worse than the former? Differences? I was recomended by leon loke (quicksave Sunway) Yokohama V103 is more comfortable than Michelin PS 2. I am worried about Michelin because my old PP2 is hard and noisy.

So far so good bro. Cornering, wet conditions, braking... happy with it so far.. but will see it in real action when i my two front as well.

I would say go for it, if you have enough dough.:top:

Don Franco,

Is it comfy/quiet/ compared to your old tyres?
What about shimmys? I read about some people using PS 2 complaining about slight vibration at certain speed on their bmw car.

I saved enough dough. Phew:burnout:
