Rust inside the Sunroof Compartment

Hi how do we get to treat the rust inside the sunroof compartment / shaft (meaning the space where the sunroof slides in)? I noticed the rust when I tipped my sunroof upwards instead of backwards ... I looked around but i seems quite difficult to get to it.

worst i've seen is remove the roof fabric panel, touch up & re- spray...

I was wondering if it could be done DIY...i have lots of rust converter and i was thinking just of applying epoxy paint after that.

damn,i also got the same problem with my sunroof gutters.....
i heard tht one of the solutions is to get a roofcut.....:unsure:

or the othr alternative is to remore the sunroof panel and duely sand every bit of rust and recoat it with an anti rust treatment....

thts the only set back to owning an e30 with sunroof.....

any1 with advice and tips pls do advice.

brad i have to agree with you ... mine makes a clinking sound when the car is moving ... damn irritating.

By the way, anyone tried converting the sunroof to one of the new ones with the glass?
