Anybody can tell me what does an E36 318i rev @ 110kmh?I'm getting just a hair under 3000 rpm at 110 kmh.Which seems a bit high if you ask me. Makes highway driving a bit of a pain.

318I or 328I (in case typo error since your info states 328I) :dunno:

New addition to my BM family. A 1999 318i.
Pretty nice as it has lots of extra's that my 96 328i does not have.
2 air bags, cruise control & foot well lights.

since thats a after 1997 model

Congrats to your new car, btw

3000rpm to 110KMh is normal, maybe because you have always experiencing 328, a change of rear diff will help however

Thanks for thew info SIdeways. I was a little worried it was on the high side.

my car also same 110kmh @ 3000 rpm i think is normal ..
anyeays to make the rpm to come lower ?

rear diff change will do

results - less acceleration force but higher top speed

tenquoraq ur car auto/manual? Manual should be running on 4.10 differential where as auto transmission are on 4.45 rear differential. For auto transmission cars on e30 m40 1.8, like mine which uses 4.45 rear diff, yes it is normal for 3000rpm=110km/h

weii man, how about manual transmission larr....mine is 3000 rpm sharp to 100km/h...is that normal?

So if 4.45 rear diff 110km/h at 3000rpm is normal, mine is manual 4.10 rear diff should be at what reading.. is it a bit high?

My old Citroen used to do the same thing too.
Not a problem, just does not make for lazy all day cruising.
Sideways was right, i am just too used to my slow reving big six.
110 on my 328 is just slightly above 2500 rpm.
But having said that, the 318 drives just fine for the trip to work and back. Nice and comfy, not lowered and on the stock rims, so i don't have to worry too much about pot holes and speed bumps. Looking forward to finding out how much a full tank will now take me. Getting very expensive doing only 400kms on a full tank with my 328.

I think with stock rims, you can get about slightly above 500km with a full tank. If you slap a 17', a full tank will take you to about 470km.

At first I thought got problem too. But after reading this thread, should be OK lar. :eek:k:
