Terrifying ... this woman screamed at the attackers to stop
HUMBLE Malaysian consular driver Mohd Shah Saemin's nightmare began with a minor car accident. Within moments he was beaten and stabbed to death. Road rage was just one motive being investigated by police, who yesterday interviewed witnesses to the 43-year-old's murder in Marion St, Leichhardt. A woman showed police, using a detective lying on the footpath as a model, how one of two attackers repeatedly bashed Mr Saemin around the head just metres from the front door of the boarding house where he lived. Ian Duly heard yelling out the front of his home just after midnight yesterday and rushed out to find Mr Saemin lying in a pool of blood. "There was a lady with him, she was hysterical," Mr Duly said. Police praised the woman, who tried in vain to stop the murder by screaming at the attackers: "Get off him, don't touch him." "Horror - watching someone being killed in front of me. The two guys bashed his head with a hammer," the woman told Channel 7. Detectives believe Mr Saemin was in a minor traffic accident moments before he was killed. Acting Superintendent Shayne Woolbank said road rage was "one possibility" under investigation. "We believe the victim had just returned home - we don't know where he had been beforehand - and as he got out of the car he was approached by two males," he said. "We believe there may have been a traffic accident between a black sedan and the victim's car shortly before the attack occurred." Two men in dark clothing with curly hair and olive skin were seen running down Cromwell St after the attack. Mr Saemin's colleagues at the Malaysian Consulate in Bellevue Hill said he was a quiet, peaceful man. He had lived in Australia for about 10 years and had been at work on Saturday, driving to Newcastle, Consul Dr Mohd Nasir Abu Hassan said. He said his driver was a "very close friend". "He did not talk much, but he was well liked," Dr Abu Hassan said. "This is a very tragic time for all of his friends. He was always good to me." Mr Saemin had a modest room in a boarding house and neighbours Joanne Cassidy and Gregory Lander said he was quiet and polite.

Land of Criminals!! Its in their genes.. hopeless!

Ops... any Aussie here.. sorry mate! Just thinking out loud, dun stab me....

Condolences to his family.

Nowadays, there are many immigrants in Australia. According to the lady witness, the two men are of olive skin.

Cheers

May his soul rest in Peace..........those guys that did that to him will surely be dealt with..........gods willpower.....

Even those who rules Australia was immigrants before and they claim others as immigrants?

Another innocent live gone by brutality..may his soul rest in peace.

Maybe he did a drive in the manner....malaysia boleh, but kat australia tak boleh?

whatever it is, let the police do their job and those guilty be prosecuted. Heard some smart ass Malaysian politician said to not rule out racial hate as a motive......i think the situation dun need such flaming. ( even if its the truth, it will be revealed )

Btw, goes to show - even in Advanced Countries where many flock to, its never safe and that's the hard truth! Please always be careful anywhere, all the time - that's my sincere advice.

RIP for the deceased.

....heard in the news the person responsible for this barbaric act has been arrested.

Semoga rohnya di cucuri rahmat.

Truly shocking news. Most of these attacks are as a result of drunk drivers who becomes violent at the slightest provocation. Moral of the story is, it's never safe anywhere. There are certain streets and suburbs in Melbourne gazetted as 'dark areas'. Most wouldn't even dare go near them when nightfalls......train stations are also areas prone to such barbaric acts.

This is not a case of road rage as many would think. Its much deeper than that...colleague and colleagues husband involved...think again..

:17::( ..Al-Fatihah ..... was at the funeral guys ...its one of my relatives ... the parent house is opposite my cousin's ... :(:(:( ..it sure is a crazy world Down Under ...

Okow is right. It's not as simple as just a normal road rage. Whatever the victim has done to provoke this attack, let's hope he rests in peace and the attackers brought to justice.

I'm sure Down Under is not as crazy as 'up above'. At least crime is less rampant here. Only thing is they overblow matters as they occur. At least regulations are really enforced strictly here. One thing's for sure. Nobody gets away by bribing a cop.....at least not on the road.

Based on today's news report two fellow malaysians are charged with the killing.

More negative publicity for the country but in Australia, as what dd has said the killers won't get off easily.

and that was why I was so cheesed when someone very irresponsibily said to not rule out "racial attacks"......and now - we know it "kawan hentam kawan" case.

Whatever it is, please never jump to any conclusions irrationally and that's how things get out of control and irreversible. ( esp when it deals with race, religion etc )

DD - i took trains /trams for many years whilst in Melbourne.....it was ok lar but of course, that was then and you must never let your guard down esp at deserted stations. Take care.

I think both countries are having a competition to see who is better at exaggerating negative publicity. When the churches in Msia got hit, it was big news here. Now a Msian gets killed over some personal 'affairs' (pun intended) issues, Malaysia is labelling Down Under as a violent country. Hahahaha.....

You are right Jules. I seldom take public transport at night. Not alone anyway.

Bundy, that's why most of the used performance cars here i.e. Ms, HSVs, FPVs, are in pretty good condition. They only get to test power 0-60km/h......then slam the brakes hard! Damn it....no wonder I needed to change my brake pads and rotors last week. Hahahaha....
