I thot that the pre 2001 triptronic is reverse to normal sense and other cars where it is push for up and pull back for down. The post 2001 models had them reversed where push for downshift and pull for upshift.I gatal and went and reversed it. It is nothing more than an electrical switch. Switched the blue and purple pin on the connector next to the gear shift under the trim. Now I cant seem to shake off the old habit. Guess it will take some getting used to it.Net thing will be to look for post 2001 template for the +/-.

I like it the "new" way:
- is fwd/push
+ is pull/back

Think of it like you are on a 1-2 or 3-4 gate plane on a manual. First gear is left-fwd. So on the steptronic is S mode (left) and push (fwd). Like engaging first gear in manual. Accelerating, you just pull back like you are engaging second gear.

Decelerating from high speed you push fwd to drop a gear. So think of it like you were engaging 3rd from 4th in a manual to negotiate a corner.

Its pretty intuitive once you get the hang of it.
