Well im not sure if anyone is aware of it or if it is really of any use.. But AB has been offering a "Navigation Retrofit" for pre-facelift E60's which will mean your i-drive monitor will be upgraded to the wider version, you will then have 2 slots at your single cd loader area and the area below the single cd loader will dissapear. So anyhow, there are a couple of things i wanted to find out and i hope a kind soul will enlighten me. :)1. Force Feedback I-Drive- Does this retrofit also include the i-drive controller coming with the force feedback found in the new X5, 7series etc and Navigation E60's?2. Anyone have the part numbers for the items that they will replace?- Im thinking that they are charging a good RM29k for it and im sure if we had the part numbers, we could get the parts for less and maybe even 2nd hand and make this happen for a whole lot less.I tried ringing Sapura auto for the part numbers but my regular SA told me that theyre not allowed to give out part numbers however if u bought it, in the invoice, the part numbers iwll be listed so feel free to buy the parts first and then get the number. :SJust wondering if there's a way to make this cool function happen for less. :)Thanks alot for any input in advance!

I think the aftermarket Navigation system that can connect directly to the i-screen is less than RM5K

U can retrofit it at Obermaier. Not everyone can do retrofit for the Navigation cause of lots of fiber optic cable n need 3S programming machine. They have done b4.

Alvin: Thanks for the input bro but whats the cost?

I was thinking that if i can get the part number and see if i can source the parts cheaper?

THanks alot for your feedback bro.

First of all, your car is an AB/Sapura CKD car right?

fyi, you have what they call the M-ASK system (the single slot cd player)..What you will need is :
1) CCC Unit (the double slot, 1 slot for the cd player (also supports mp3 format cd's if properly programmed via SSS) & 1 slot for the dvd player(which is meant for your dvd map data but can also play audio dvd's/cd's)
2) A new antenna for GPS
3) A new idrive controller-high, currently yours is an idrive controller-low that doesn't support the ccc...
4) A big bundle of the optical cable which is known as the MOST retrofit cable & preparation for SatNav (this is a very big bundle of cables and wires that will need in order to do the retrofit)
5) 8.8" CID- this is the display screen for the CCC that will only work...your current CID is not supported...
6) etc....that i don't remember.....

the part no varies as i don't know your date of production/ vin number...but, i hope the link below will help :
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partsearch.do?keywords=retrofit+navigation&model=NE52&mospid=48462

The cost is very high if you plan to retrofit this, but i tell you that it is worth it...especially now that the new dvd map data is out which is currently meant for 2008 (dvd 08-1)...it now has the same maps as in mapking 2007 that i also have in my windows mobile 6 gps enabled phone...

Trust me, the aftermarket sat nav's doesn't match with the the original BMW one...everything is integrated via idrive...you don't need a remote to navigate or search places and the sound output integrates with the speakers...unlike the aftermarket ones, it will be connected via aux audio or by its standalone speaker for the unit...

Price range of the job if done at obermaier, as alvin said, is slightly more or less RM20k...they do a super job in these type of retrofits...

has anyone retrofitted this on their CKD cars yet?

now my hands itchy want to DIY again... :p

Hello there, I have not retrofitted it to my Japan Spec unit yet but after I heard the price, I may want to consider twice and also I was told that my TV function cannot be used.

i have bought the Nav Pro retrofit kit and I can tell you that u don't need rm28k as AB/BMW MY quoted for the retrofit as it is totally  when u hear it...once i got it install i will let u guys know but since end of the year it is hard to find time to DIY...

i heard u will need additional module for the TV function...for Japan Spec with Nav i assume you have the 8.8" monitor and the i-drive high-controller, so u need only the CD-CCC as offered by some of the shops like obermaier where bro alxy install his...u can see one of the thread here...

Problem is that my car is located back in Kota Kinabalu. Need to find someone professional to do it if I were to convert. Yup my Japan spec comes with the 8.8" monitor with Nav Pro. Do you roughly know how much does the CCC costs?

BMW Specialist (not Authorised Centre) will probably quote you RM9000 - RM10000

BMW Authorised Centre??? Double the price :D

i think for the CCC alone it is about rm21k from authorized kapak shop oppps centre...

and the best part the retrofit kits is also this price from them...

Hmmm.. So in order to convert a Jap spec to a UK spec is just to change the CCC unit? Or are there a lot of other things to change as well?

as far as i know only change the MD-CCC to the CD-CCC nia...and coding...thats all u need...before change make sure the I-Level or progman is at the latest version...

Hmmm... itching already to change to the CCC.. but need to do more research before committing. Just have to go through my BMW original accessories brochure and see what else can I add on to this car after I've changed the CCC.

friend... a lot of BMW specialist or workshops outside knows how to retrofit CCC onto your car... save the hassle of going all the way to AB, Sapura or Ingress where the price is more than double of what you can get out there. One more factor that you might want to consider is that these centres have a lot of workers... if they assign an experienced worker to handle the job, it will be great!!! But if they decided to send a rookie instead, you are as good as deadmeat. In those places, they follow the guidebook provided.
My advise is... talk to those owners who are specialised in doing BMW... talk to them personally... and you will have their undivided attention. After changing CCC... you will have Sat Nav system... your radio should be able to function normally (unlike Japan spec which only goes to 90hz)... your player has the ability to play MP3 format (as opposed to WAV only)...
I don't know about your car.. but most E60 doesn't come with PDC (Parking Distance Control) which makes it hard to reverse. You might want to install a reverse camera instead...
that is.. my opinion :top:

Thanks for your feedback thule. I am just thinking whether to change the CCC as my TV function will not be usable after the swap. Currently I've installed a FM booster and set of aftermarket reverse sensors. The car came pretty much very standard. Not a fully optioned car I must say. It had the M-Sports package, Japan Navigation, TV and partial leather sports seats along with a sunroof. Only thing that puzzled me is that my trim had been swapped somewhere either in Japan or in Malaysia as the original trim of this car was supposed to be Dark Birch wood panel, but instead I had the alu cube trim, BMW Japan and UK could not provide me with the detail alongside with the service history either.

Aiya... just throw TV function away la... 1) u can only watch TV when u come to a full stop & when stationary, 2) the picture is so blur that I want to throw the entire LCD away...
Once u retrofit CCC... u can install aftermarket DVD player... try to play Jurassic Park or Transformer DVD... the sound will be great!!! But if u prefer RTM1,2.. TV3.. NTV7... then I have nothing to say la :D
Please take off the FM booster... it wil affect your car in the long run... the DVD player should be able to receive radio signal.

P.S: We have the exact same car... lol!!! I will post some picture here for you to see soon...
