Rear left lamp faulty indication.

Good day gents n ladies,Im new to this forum.I has a BMW E39 520i yr 2000.M52 double vanos.My rear left lamp indication on cluster showing its faulty.Its already been change to a after market lamp which have the led lights.When i bought the car last Apr 2011,no any fault on the cluster,but after all this time suddenly the indication appear,so i took the car to a popular BMW service center(not AB) ,he claim there should be some led in the lamp blown,so the difference in the current return back to ECU will detect fault.So he advice me to bring the car to his fren's place who has a accessory shop.He(the fren) will install some relay to counter the current and will solve the issue. Myself after being there for a day to rectify auxiliary belt snapped and regular service,could'nt make it to send the car to the frens place,so decided to send to a shop near my place the next day.The person tried to swap the right lamp and fix to left lamp.still the indication appear.(so this shows that the lamp is ok)and fixed the left lamp to right(no fault indication)pls advice ,what am i suppose to do,since both the lamp is OK when fixed to the right side. Bro you might try to plug in the scanner to erase the error code, hope it's works.

Te mehanic might be true which u need the relay.

What type of after market rear light on your car? Depo?

Its after market for sure,but have to dbl check to be exact model..im in offshore now..will update about the light soon.

It could be your brake light.. No? Have you check that?

Well did try to change the brake light bulb,bcoz initially its was little malap on the left,after change both was ok.together with this i did change the 3rd brake light.
Bcoz honestly that indication on the cluster..ahhh,,,sorry i mean irritating.hahaha.

chk inside d booth, under d spare tyre, can u find 2 small metal box that is connecting to d rear light?

Hello..
just back from work..ok cifu's,,its little embarrassing but i have to be honest here...the place at the spare tire is flooded(kolam ikan)..i dono exactly where the water came from ..already dry them..so the 2 silver box is submerged...i already brought the car the bodywork shop,,to open the lamp..install(frame rubber)..then new(own design)rubber oring for the boot dampeners fixed to the body..so far after few days,,parked/drove in rain..still got water ingress(very little)..so looks like the rear bumpers nuts fixed to the body is not properly sealed,,its the original bumper changed to msport bumper...so loooks like i got no choice,,,but have to frequently check the water level in my spare tire compartment..hhmmm...so cifu...this the situation now,,,the left lamp is now out..no more the three or four lines,,only a small light on below them..

have to bring the car to shop to check and fixed this issue..

I think the control module is gone. Hard to get locally, find it from eBay bro.

if u want to repair the silver box... 1st need to be remove and open d box, the electronic component must be rusty / broken due to water / moisture, design of the circuit is pretty simple if u understand a bit of electronic stuff, just replace the rusty / broken capacitor, reconnect any broken circuit etc and u r done.

Gents,

I have just fixed the lamp control module,its a second hand unit,cost me rm310..++installation..

Now the lamp is normal and the fault on cluster sudah hilang...so hapy...
